If you haven't found the preview on iTMS, you can just tune in your local public radio station/college station and get all the indie music you little heart desires. some stream over the net like WRVG. It is situated at the birthplace of Bourbon Whiskey, so they play a lot of blues.
these guys are still streaming I believe. WMMT It will rot your mind. Believe me, it will.
WRFL is the best I have heard, but they do not stream.
was several years before it was released, Apple insiders were suggesting that we learn Linux. They said it will help us with the new Mac OS. They also said that if Apple gets killed by MS, we would have a non MS alternative.
So when I got my first taste of OSX, I went straight to the terminal and typed top. It's all been gravy since then.
I like O'Reilly's Learning UNIX for Mac OS X. Advanced OSX is cool too if you like Peachpit press.
I distinctly remember GW Bush using an Apple Powerbook while campaigning. Rush uses Macs too. In fact, rush likes them so much, he is an advocate for them.
bush may have changed over to the dark side since his top advisor Ralph Reed was a lobbyist for MS, and MS gave big bucks to the Bush campaign.
If you are a geek, look for the O'Reilly book that addresses the Geek.
MacOSX For UNIX Geeks, O'Reilly Press.
I have Learning UNIX For MacOSX. Pretty good reference.
Peachpit Press has an OSX Advanced offering. So if you feel his review doesn't show your need for the book, hit your local bookstore and thumb through the offerings there. Go to the O'Reilly site and read about their OSX books. Their books are usually good, with a few exceptions.
Deveolpers should now concentrate on bringing GIMP up to parity with PS. We need something like the Mozilla project for the GIMP. (as far as the visibility)
I love using PS, but would love to use GIMP more. Free compared to $600 is a big incentive. Let's face it, Adobe is one of the big guns behind BSA, and many of us would go to an alternative if presented.
MacGIMP works well, but still has a way to go to catch up to PS.
My friend in Texas, who has a working relationship with Sony has heard some rumblings about Sony breaking away from Microsoft. We already know that Sony and Apple have been working together, though Steve Jobs and Sony do not see eye to eye. Maybe Apple bringing into the fold one of the best backroom negotiators/deal makers, Al Gore could be a part of the Sony/Apple alliance. Gore is much better one on one than he is before a crowd.
The gist of my friends comments on Apple/Sony is that Sony will be phasing out Windows and moving to a UNIX OS. We already know they are using Linux for the PS2.
My feelings are either the Sony guy didn't know what he was talking about, or was blowing smoke up my friend's ass. The other possibility is Sony is looking at Darwin for future projects.
I find that the filters in GIMP are a little different than the Photoshop versions, and can be used to give a different feel to a project. To me GIMP is a utility. Still PS is the way to go.
A native port of GIMP will push development, as more Mac users try it.
they own Painter, and that is a terrific painting program. They never promoted it the way it should be promoted.
I have use Painter for many years, through the good and bad years. It still has a feel like no other.
Now that SCO is out of the picture, I can update.

Nothing beats experience, except Edy's Chocolate Fudge Sundae.
Look at the Apple laptops and then compare them to Dell laptops. You will see they compare favorable.
Here is the scoop on Apple Laptops
OSX on an eMachine, disgusting. Apple has made its way by being different. Going to the Intel world would make it just another box.

I think Apple will go IBM and not Intel.
With a good fork, some of the vibration can be damped. Aluminum frames are very good at absorbing shocks.
Motorbikes are OK, but still I like to hear the ringing of high pressure, high quality tires on the road. Sure miss my silks.
Oh where is my Masi California now?
but I see little help from the Greedy Oil Party.
the moon and earth, could they be considered a binary system? Maybe the moon is not just a moon of the earth but a planet.
Yes.
How does he know how a LLama's anus smells?
Well, there goes my Karma.
Inquiring minds want to know.

Safari is still Beta, but it still kicked IE's fat ass.
to enjoy this. You just have to like beer.
Why does my cat hate me?
It is about flexibility and choice. I do not see KDE and Aqua as an either or choice.
BTW, KDE 3 runs great on the Mac. So does Gnome.
Fresh ideas.
I run OSX and Linux on PPC machines. I do not miss the world of the paranoids in Redmond.
I don't need a 4 gig chip to type a paper or Photoshop a picture of Rumsfeld and a goat.
Frame rate for games? Got my PS2 for that.
