Except for the Jock part. Most jocks end up as High School janitors, while the nerds who got strait A's end up with College degrees and high-paying jobs. There are the exceptions of course, being professional athletes, but that's a very small fraction.
I don't think anyone who is really "dealing with a finite amount of money to spend, and that means making trade-offs" is buying a MacBook Air. MacBook Airs are for rich people who don't have to make trade-offs because they have too much money lying around.
Then I assume you don't like an RGPs. That's fine, not everyone does, but everyone likes different things.
You can't objectively say that your preferred game genre is superior or less of a waste of time than anyone else's. Personally, I think sports games are a total waste of time and "I don't think [they are] 'fun'..."
However, I'm not going to sit here and say that sports games are a waste of time and no one else should enjoy them just because I don't.
How is this any different from any other video-game? I can understand if you think that video-games as a whole are a waste of time, but many people enjoy the entertainment they provide.
With an mmorpg, specifically one that requires a subscription fee, you pay for your entertainment monthly. It's not different than paying for a service like Gamefly or Netflix. If you stop paying the fee or Netflix goes out of business, you lose all "your" movies that you've been paying monthly for.
A mmorpg is simply entertainment that you pay for monthly. If you see it as "work" to build up your character, then why would you be playing the game in the first place? I've never understood why someone would play a game that is work and not simply fun.
If my character is deleted, who cares? I can go on to play a different game now. It's not like single player games are played forever either.
So basically.. if you want to survive as an app developer make sure that iOS isn't your primary platform. You can make an iOS app on the side but you better make Android your primary goal so that if Apple screws you over you aren't screwed.
Simple solution that doesn't even require you paying attention to your kids. Buy them a Nintendo DS instead a phone. Now you have your electronic babysitter, and they can only use the games you buy for them.
When you feel like they obsoletely can't survive without a cell-phone buy them a cheap-o one that can make phone calls and text at the most. When they have their own job at 16 and can pay for their own phone, THEN they get a smartphone.
It's just what you're used to in my opinion. I taught myself with GIMP and used it for a couple years. When I tried to do something on my friends computer using Photoshop I couldn't figure out where anything was.
I too was tempted to say, "Photoshop has a terrible interface," but I realized it was just terrible for me because it's not what I'm used to.
I also find that macs have a God awful user interface, but I assume that's just because I'm so used to Windows.
The vast majority of us who happen to not be rich, cannot afford to eat all the healthy crap you buy at Sunflower Market.
I can make a whole meal from Wal-Mart for 3 dollars. A healthy meal that is still even slightly appetizing is going to be much more expensive than 3 dollars.
If we really want to help people eat healthier, we should raise taxes on unhealthy foods, but we should also subsidize the healthy ones so people can actually afford it. Simply making the Wal-Mart meal more expensive doesn't help anyone, it just makes it even more difficult for people to feed their families.
I'm pretty sure that the 3DS will demolish the NGP in sales. It's pretty simple really, who actually uses handheld systems? Kids do. Adults are actually driving when they're in the car, and the vast majority of us have a smartphone that is "good enough" for those rare times we can actually make use of a handheld gaming device.
It's pretty obvious the NGP will cost more than the 3DS, so it has the upper hand in the kid market from the start. Nintendo is also makes much more "kid-friendly" games, in general.
I was just pointing out that in the specific areas of "power, resolution, and hardware" the 3DS is not top of the line. Also the price and low battery life compared to Nintendo's usual handhelds is a valid point. Nintendo is lucky that Sony is completely retarded and didn't release something for $200 or even $150, and instead decided to fail the same way they did with the PSP by releasing something that's even more expensive than Nintendo's already expensive handheld.

No worries, I'll be enjoying openness AND Netflix on my Nexus.

TPB is working fine for me on Cable One, out of New Mexico.

Nerds like xkcd.
Who cares about Windows 8? I thought you were always supposed to ignore every other iteration of Windows.
Win98 = Good, WinME = bad.
Win XP = Good, Win Vista = bad.
Win 7 = Good, Win 8 = bad?
Amen. Preach it brother.
How does this hurt anyone? So Samsung phones get more expensive, and you just buy an HTC phone instead.
I agree with this gentleman.

So the answer to all your security questions is "Polly"?

"That's it. The end. Respectfully, your complaint is out of pure ignorance of how patent IS SUPPOSED TO work."
Fixed that for you.
This is a great idea.
Ya, GIMP is so expensive.
I'm not sure exactly what it's called but I'm pretty sure there is something like this...

The psp is a last-gen handheld. If you really want to compare it to another handheld, take a look at the "NGP."
Sarcasm, bro.
I'd laugh if Blizzard ended up suing them over this.
Everyone knows that Torrents are only used for illegal file sharing.
