    Seriously though, I agree with you, especially with the bit about drag-n-drop programming. It's sort of like listening to someone who 'writes' webpages using Netscape Composer and says "I'm a webmaster!"(think of Ralph Wiggam when you read that).

    Seriously though, I hate to sound like I don't care, but the Earth isn't going to last as a stable ecosystem for humans. The face of the planet has, without the help of outside(living) forces, been completely decimated. So, why not take full advantage? Besides which, I do not look forward to any afterlife, therefore, I don't see much of a fear of 'raping' the Earth. I say go for it, the world is going to get worse before it gets better. :S

    Don't confuse pessemism with rational thought. Most folks will hem and holler saying "See, I told you it would work"; fact is, they are looking for a way to keep you from getting the chance to do just this. As I remember, there have been several attempts to do just this... but not by the publisher. They were all shot down by the litigation depts. of the respective publishers.

    Hey, screw you pal. I never for once said I wanted it for free so fuck off. I'm fully willing to pay for games... Unless you didn't read the whole post, you would have noticed that I said I would _BUY_ GameCube games. That takes money... I'm not the only person out there that is willing to shell out the bucks for a Linux version of a game. Get your shit straight or don't bother saying anything.

    I'm fucking sick of hearing from game makers that they will release their title on GNU/Linux... shortly after the Windows release. Bullshit. Utter bullshit. They will either _not_ release it, or wait a few fucking months after the Windows release... that way, noone is playing it anymore and is interested in the next game. I'm sick of it and I'm not going to deal with it any more. I'll just buy a GameCube game instead of doing this stupid "Hey, this company is pretty cool because they support GNU/Linux... This company is shit because they lied about supporting GNU/Linux! Fuck them all!

    I had two customers who had different models of Maxtors... both died within months. I have a closet full of WD Caviars that I still use whenever I want a backup data drive. OLD disks. Hell, I generally shy away from whatever Best Buy is pushing on folks anyway... I guess that's why I never bought an NVidia based card ;)

    I would agree with you, but the problem is the funding... not the lack of it, but the origin. It's all public funding. I can understand hiring a person who is more qualified for slightly higher pay, but I cannot see a person getting hired, then trained(even if they are fully qualified). Reason being, they can take that training and leave(and often do). It would be the tax payers paying a single person's way, when everyone else must pay on their own. I know I don't want to pay for someone else's education(and no, I don't support HOPE by purchasing lotto tickets but I can't say no to taxes).

    Wow. Just wow.

    I've been working for Georgia Southern University Library for about two years. We've bought training courses on CD, mainly for the students, but we have the ability to check them out too. That is about it as far as training goes. I must say though that you have it better, far better than most have it.

    I totally understand why I can't get training, and very much respect that limitation. However, I have only heard of a couple of situations that an employer would do such a thing. Smile dude, you're livin' large! lol

    This too is true. Small time movie production units wouldn't be able to region encode... they may not even release on DVD due to that limitation. I'm sure they have enough problems working out PAL/NTSC issues. Time is money, and so is the fee for encoding things... ;)
