I once tried to reply to a text while going down a gentle grade on my mountain bike....ended up on my ass....pine cone in a shadow caught the front wheel.....I had done it many times before and it was fine. Just goes to show just because you succeed in not crashing 100 times doesn't mean that you will succeed 101 times. I haven't done it again since...too much to do to risk being injured for a text message.
Depending on the printer I found Ubuntu easier to setup then Win7. We had a Konica printer in the office; on Ubuntu I put in the IP address of the new printer and hit next a few times, having to select the postscript driver as the only choice point. Worked for printing etc... couldn't get the scan to samba working but eh...ended up using scan to email.
Win7 was a nightmare, had to go to the website and download various drivers and install them till one worked, what a waste of time; no we don't have an "IT" pro in the office, we are a 3 man operation. I'm sure if I had chosen the correct download first time it would have worked but that is just the way it worked out.
Agreed,
I have a Koo Aura HD, never once while once while I have been reading have I thought "you know what, I really need to take some notes here". The ereaders are great at one thing, being a reader.
If your what to take notes etc, use a tablet they have a much better refresh rate and touch precision.
Well I for one am looking forward to it. I used to game quite a lot, but I got busy and stopped playing a few years ago. It was about 6 months after that that I deleted my windows partition since I only ever used it for games.
Now with steam coming to linux I can have games installed on the system I actually WANT to use rather then the one I HAVE to use (but don't because I just can't be arsed installing Windows again) currently.
I doubt that I will get back into gaming like I was 5 years ago, but I also have a job that pays me enough now that I can afford to buy whatever title I like which I didn't in the past. GOOD games coming to linux an be nothing but an overall win for the platform.
In saying that battle for wesnoth is an awesome game. Though I haven't played for a few years since I ran through a few of the available scenarios available for it.
Another big part of this is the ability to get the creature in question to breed in captivity. If you could get the turtles to breed in captivity easily enough even the breeding cycle would not be a problem.
You just keep your breeding stock separate from your saleable stock.
As a daily Linux user, there is only one thing that Linux lacks compared to Win or Mac, that is third party software support. That is it, I can't go and buy (which I would gladly do, for the correct tools) software package X that works across Win/Mac/Linux.
I hope the advent of Steam on Linux causes software developers to take Linux seriously, I purchased the first Humble Bundle, and I have watched all the others, no time for gaming anymore....but I notice that Linux usually sells about the same numbers as Mac and always has the highest per unit sale price.
Occasionally (1-2 Weeks a year, when our regular CAD guy is swamped) I have to so some 2D CAD work, two years ago I was running AutoCAD 2006 in a VM on my Linux box, then this year I found DraftSight, I can't tell you how pleasant it is to use native software compared to some other solution that you cobble together just to get the job done. If I had to do CAD more often I would gladly pay for the full version to get the scripting API's.
Most Linux users are not so purist that they wont pay for software at all, given the right tools for the job they are doing they will pay for commercial software.
I was wondering how long this kind of thing would take. companies suing the patent authorities for granting f-ing stupid patents that are so broad that they cover anything.
I had the same problem with a RA link WiFi card, worked perfectly when I installed Mint 12 but the equivalent Ubuntu didn't??? I thought this strange since mint is based on ubuntu...I managed to manually compile the driver in ubuntu but switched to mint because 3 times after updates it nuked my WiFi.
This was all on my 2011 netbook....so no not 90's hardware

TL:DR version ~ Ubuntu 10.04 + VM for winXP = epic
I use Ubuntu 10.04.4_64 every day, I have 8 VM's in virtual box OSE running XP for all my windows based needs.
MS Office runs well under wine and I use it most days, I also have libre office for use when I don't have to send my documents to MS based people.
The only reason not to use a VM for windows and have linux as your host to if you are doing heavy grahics work, though someone may be able to tell you (me) how to get pci-e pass through so that my VM's can see the graphics card.
I have been running this setup for about 18 months, with no serrious issues, there was one time when I was playing around and corrupted my graphics driver and had to do a quick reinstall as I didn't really have time to look for a fix on for my work machine. The beauty of this with VM's is that you store them either in your/home/USER/... directory or a seperate partition entirely and a reinstall doesn't touch them.
I could on about the benifits of using VM's for all knids of reasons, but that an entire topic on its own.
My brother recient had a $1500NZD dell laptop fail after 15 months, he called dell and they said (paraaphrase) unlucky buddy that only has a 12 month warranty. He called the consumer protection agency (New Zealand consumer watchdog), they said someone can "reasonably expect" a laptop to last longer then 15months and essentially ordered dell to repair or repplace the laptop.
So they replaced the failed motheroard and all was well with the orld
I believe this is the only correct way to use "misunderestimate".
.... just perfect :)

I believe they will soon be offering this at degree level at the soon to be opened Apple Evangelical University

No difference between voltage and power.....I would have to say you are wrong!
You can have a potential difference with no circuit, thus no current flow. V=/=P

They were supposed to be: reciently and paraphrase.
