    Plenty fast? OmniWeb is the slowest browser I have ever used. Feature-wise, yah, it's great, on par with iCab. Like icab, however, as an actual browser, it blows serious donkey ballz.

    holy hell.. i had no idea this kind of thing was going on. I've never personally used paypal, but have had friends who have (a while ago). I'd never heard of such problems. Thanks for the links, though, I'll be sure *NOT* to use paypal at anytime in the future, ever.

    a couple of MONTHS ago, you bought a 10 gig for 140??? you got ripped off. last month i bought an IBM 40 gig harddrive for 110. You point still holds that 2 (or 3) gigs isnt that much based upon how much harddrive space you can get these days for so cheap. 3 gigs still seems extreme though. OSX, with all the developer tools, is only about 1.5 gigs.

    dont be silly. i have an imac dvse (which has rage 128) and i have a pc (athlon 700, geforce ddr). are you really missing that much? Hell yes you're missing that much. The geforce runs circles around the rage 128.

    On my imac, with quake 3, i turn all the grafx completely down and run in 640x480. I usually get around 30fps (average), which is kinda playable, but it also looks terrible. (the rage 128 16bit color is so dithered and disgusting it usually makes me want to kill myself).

    on my pc, quake 3 rarely drops below ninety frames a second, and i have ALL the grafx turned ALL the way up, and running in 800x600.

    so to answer your question, yes, you are missing a lot. Apple needs to get rid of the disease that ATI is, and put nVidia chips in all their machines. ATI is even more pathetic than 3dfx, and that's pretty damn pathetic.

    The way I see it... amazon is in need of some serious cash, since they've already lost many many millions. All this patent BS is an easy way for them to sue people, or maybe even raise their stock if investors feel like they own the copyright to some cool technology.

    I think this whole thing is sad... amazon is such a great place to get books, but they keep doing things like this that I don't think is good business practice.

    Oh my lord...... that would be so cool. Dave Barry has written some of the funniest articles and books I have ever read in my life, yet you can tell he's a really smart guy. He gets things.

    I think his contribution to slashdot would make the site have some sort of fresh new feeling it, something that would be very much welcome by me.

    You dont understand that the rebate is given to you IN THE STORE. So you don't have to worry about microsoft pulling shit like paying you 2 bucks a month for the rest of your life, because you already saved 400 dollars when you made the purchase.
