I just use a formula using two different input lists (i.e. Shakespeare characters, '60 muscle cars, etc.). The inputs are then run through a formula and combined to form a password. It's easy to remember the list items and the formula makes a good non-sensical password.
I don't think that such a device would be broadcasting 24/7. You'd have some button or such to push when you want it to make a link. Now how you protect your connection while you're working is another thing.
Why can't they just weave this sort of data server into clothing? Average user could get by with a thong while a slashdot user would likely need long johns.
There's some software called Pooch that lets you run parallel clusters across PPC Macs. It's pretty minimal but you can still use the Macs for regular work and then run parallel software on them when they're not being used.
Not to mention the fact that these fans are low speed/high volume fans. They spin slower, producing less noise but moving more air than small, high speed fans.
SMAC and SMAC-X rule. Am playing the same player (Spartins) at home and on my laptop, using the same map. Lots of fun, taking different choices in each game. Will have to check out Martian Dreams.
I'm 35 and I prefer email to phone messages. Data retention is so much easier and I don't lose the little notes I write as I talk with someone on the phone. I don't IM at all. It's just a little too frenetic for my tastes.
One of the reasons I prefer email is that it keeps people at a distance. I work with computers because I like machines and don't really care for people in the flesh. They kinda' creep me out, with all their breathing and random movements and such. Not to mention their staring at me. Ugh! For what it's worth, several bosses have praised my people skills and have said that I am great at working with l'users and such. Good thing that the eyes are not the door to the soul or they'd all know how much disdain I feel for the skin bags.
I just want a first person building game. Something where a 2x8 Lego block is about 6' tall and the nubs on top are 18" across. The blocks should mass about 20 lbs (6-8 kilos?). Give the first person character jumping abilities so that one can build really tall structures and then walk around in them. Or maybe just Bryce, from the inside. That'd be cool.
This isn't new. MS has done this before with Word by repeatedly changing the format of the documents to make it as incompatible with other word processors as possible.
Hell, some of their Word formats are even incompatible with other versions of Word. Go figu'h.
Just like faking a video, showing how software bundled together couldn't be seperated. It's amazing just what Microsoft's lawyers have tried in court. Not that it matters, apparently. The courts find them in the wrong and then it's just business as usual.
Why doesn't MS ship Windows with all services turned off and all ports blocked? If any app needs to open a port it should bring up a pop-up window where it explains what port number it's opening and how to close the port later. Seems that would take care of a lot of these problems.
What if there were low level tanker (KC-135a models are cool. Love to hear a 4 engine water injection take off.) and the hood of your car had a socket for the boom? Just radio in when you're on a level 30 mile stretch of road and they'd drop in and fill you up.
Hell, not only does OS X patch itself and Apple apps (Safari, iMovie, iTunes, etc.), it'll even path Internet Explorer with a security patch. This is accomplished via a pop up window with a list of updates to install, check boxes next to each one, info buttons next to each one and a single install button. Nice being able to que all the installs and set them d/l'ind and running. After doing a restart, if necissary, it'll check again, to see if there are more patches that are now needed.
In the main library of University of Central Florida (go k-niggits!) there is a book on postscript. It doesn't look to much more complicated than html.
Banana Jr PC 6000, if I remember rightly. And it's butt was ok, after the bump in the wagon.
My Bloom County baseball jersey doesn't fit. It couldn't be the 135lbs I've gained since high school, could it?

So, how's Calgary?

Not to mention all the boy bands. They seem to want to fly in space.
I have nothing against HP, but it doesn't deserve a Hugo. It's not adult fiction...
Especially when there's work by LeGuin and Pullman. There's some great children's literature that is enjoyable as an adult.

Christ refereces? What references?
Would be nice if Adobe would jump on this. New installs are a real pain, having to run all the Adobe stuff.

Brevity be damned! This is Slashdot and we demand accuracy and precision in our unsubstantiated opinions.
Now what about 53, 54, and 55? Afganistan, Iraq, and Liberia or France, Germany, and Japan?
Europe is a country like Canada is the 51st state.
I thought Puerto Rico was the 51st state?
Oh yeah, watching a downsampled, stereo only version on my 19" monitor would look just great.
If you have a site license for Office X, it doesn't need a serial number. You just copy the Office folder to your app folder and run it.
