At first thought, these seem to be little more than the typical "type-r" enhancements like neon lights in the case, ect. How many users have a transparent case anyway? But this could actually be useful for diagnostics.
I for one think a good start to the SUV problem is regulation. Hear me out:
SUV's are classified as trucks by the EPA
SUV's are classified as passenger vehicles by the DMV (at least in every state I've seen)
Some of these monsters approach the weight limit necessary for a CDL (commercial driver's license), yet require nothing more than a standard driver's license to operate.
Now the upshot of the truck/passenger vehicle classification dualism is that SUV's are exempt from having to meet milage and emissions standards for passenger vehicles. Therefore most SUVs have more horsepower for a comparable displacement. Yet since they're licensed as a passenger vehicle, the SUV gets cheap car plates and registration. This simply must stop! Either it's a car, or it's a truck. They can't have it both ways.
Secondly and perhaps more controversially, I believe that a new license class should be created for large SUVs. There are simply too many people unqualified to handle a 7000+ pound vehicle treating these things like big sports car! When I wanted to ride a motorcycle, I had to get a special certification on my license, and so should it be for large SUVs.
Being right handed, the most ergonomic setup I've found is to use WASD (or similar) with the left hand, and the mouse with the right. I suppose left handed gamers would be better off using the keypad for movement, with the mouse on the left.
Seems like people new to PC gaming have trouble getting used to the idea of WASD for movement. Like they can't quite get their head around using keys for movement that don't have arrows on them.;)
Also, the study doesn't differentiate between hacking a user-level account and gaining root. I would hazard that the percentage of root-level breaches were lower on Linux than on Windows.
Apple has a fine tradition of doing this. Remember when a no-frills Apple ][ cost about $2000? And when Apple announced a cost-reduced Apple ][, how much did the price drop? $0, my friend. They kept prices the same and pocketed the difference.
Folks, http://futuresite.register.com/r-asi-bf.html has it all! Javascript cookies, Pop-Unders, onunload Pop-Ups, Web Bugs, you name it! Act now and we'll even throw in a million email addresses! (ok that part I made up)

I don't mind ad-ware either, as long as the publisher is up front about it. There is definately a line between ad-supported software (Opera) and privacy-violating, behind-your-back spyware. (Kazaa, Bonzai Buddy, ect)

IBM can go after SCO for intentional interference, abuse of process, and malicious prosecution.
And so can Red Hat, SuSE, Mandrake, ect, ect, ect..
Huzzah!
This meme, much like the people who use the word meme, ought to be shot.
Therefore yourself, having used the word "meme" should be shot. Otherwise, I agree wholeheartedly.
Now me, I think we should tax based on total time spent on the road, to penalize grannies out to cause their regular Sunday afternoon traffic-jam. ;-)
You jest, but that might help against urban sprawl.
Unfortunately, I don't know what in blue blazes a schwa might be!
The movie would have been done on time, except the clocks kept melting. Thanks, I'll be here all week!
That's not a bad idea, but who wants to change their plates every day? On the other foot, they wouldn't have any problems with the screws rusting! :)
I want my BlackBoxoppix..
Woah, I've been saying it wrong all this time. How should it be pronounced, Ka-nop-ix?
To burn the maximum amount of gasoline possible, per capita?

Flash isn't proprietary
It's not? Where are all the non-Macromedia plugins, then?
It's not just the download edition.
Maybe you should take your own advice?
From the article: (emphasis mine)
Regular screen savers will be replaced by advertising in the download version of Mandrake Linux.
Gee, or you could pay for the distro. What a concept! I bought the MDK 9.1 Powerpack edition and it was worth every penny.

You make it sound so easy! :) Wouldn't the hypothetical cracker need a suid root program to take advantage of?

The primary purpose of handguns is to shoot people, yet gunmakers are not liable for their customer's actions. Why should software be any different?
No, cheating gamers run in wireframe mode. Real gamers play honorably.
And caching only helps if you're in the habit of looking at the same pages multiple times...
Hey, this could potentially take a serious load off the /. servers.

i do own a g4 powerbook which i love :D It just cost both arms and a leg.
Now we know the real reason for Apple's one-button mouse!

Hooray, they fixed the button ordering! Not to troll, but the Mac-style <cancel> <ok> is one reason why I don't use Gnome..
