Obviously, you think that you know what.NET's all about. But do you really? I know about Visual Studio.NET, but that's not the whole story here. Is.NET any more than a marketing scheme? Why don't you enlighten us?
My Dad's the same way. He wants to use all the real estate he paid for (damnitt). He even bought me a Pan 'N' Scan copy of Star Wars Ep 2 for XMas. Argh!

If the PC hardware hadn't been opened up, I think it's safe to say that most people wouldn't be running x86 at home today. Perhaps the Mac or Amiga would have come to dominate. Perhaps we would be using thin clients or something.
And twice the interviewer thought the student was being sued by a government body. Has the RIAA so ingrained themselves in the collective unconscious that reporters now think them part of the US govt?
Hey, I'm all for diversity in operating systems. Slashdot would be boring if were all about one OS. It just upset me to see the OP get flamed for asking about a version for his OS (though he did needlessly bash Windows).
You'd think it would be easy to make a Linux port, since a lot of the hard work was already done with UT2K3. Looking at your replies, it's sad the number of Winbots that populate/. these days. I just don't get it, aren't there already a huge number of Window's specific web sites on the 'Net? Can't they just leave us alone? This is not high school for dog's sake..
I think the reason the pop up ads on the Unicast demo site work despite Mozilla's controls, is because you're actively requesting them. That is, you clicked a link which directly opens the window.
It's not a good test of Moz's pop up controls unless we can test this "in the wild".
Ironic that the MSN butterfly guy, supposedly the protector of MSN Internet users, is the content of the first advertisement demo on the site. Not that this surprises me, of course.
Of course it's a euphemism, just like "Anonymous Coward" is a euphemism for "highly critical person who fears for his karma".
However, consider why the euphemism is being used: because "rich media" is more acceptable and accessible, it's something that gives investors a warm fuzzy feeling. If you told investors that their money was going towards products that would piss off customers, I don't think they would be so happy. Thus, it's being politically correct, in addition to being a euphemism.
Well, the PLC shares some qualities with general-purpose computers, namely, the ability to store instuctions. However, I wouldn't call it a computer.
From what I remember during my college work with PLCs: The device is mainly a large number of relays in a box, run by a microcontroller, with numerous hookups for the equipment to be controlled.
You forget one: It also has a shitty user interface. Sure, the media player metaphore is cute. But what about usability? What the fsck do all those unlabeled buttons do??
Same story here with what is now Comcast cable Internet (was ATTBI). Six months to a year ago, the DHCP server would go down continually. Of course their support "techs" were totally devoid of clue. Asking me to reboot my computer isn't going to help when the damn modem isn't even syncing.
As you said, they only check the downed servers list after being convinced that the problem isn't on your side. And the irony of their recorded announcements!
"Please check our web site for outages." - I'd do that if my bleeping connection was working!

Penguins aren't Donkeys, stop messing with my mind!
No, Windows pirates (arr!) are forced to run Windows ME in the afterlife. In Hell of course, but I repeat myself..
Hey, I happen to like cheesy sci-fi! :p
Isn't "Fullscreen" a bit of a misnomer if it's to be watched on a widescreen TV?
My Dad's the same way. He wants to use all the real estate he paid for (damnitt). He even bought me a Pan 'N' Scan copy of Star Wars Ep 2 for XMas. Argh!
No, wait, I'm a Quaker
So you're gonna frag his ass instead? :P

Just wait until this thing has a buffer overflow..
Forget the High Tech Weed Killer, bring on the High Tech Killer Weed! On second thought, forget the High Tech.

Ah, that's overrated anyway. Bring on the fake girls!

That's a PC term if I ever heard one. No, that ad isn't ultra annoying, it's just rich media. Rich indeed.

Hey, that's neat. Kudos

If voting could change anything, it would be outlawed.
Indeed, this article is a paragon of unbiased reporting. <cough> <cough>
The ring tones are gay.
So it plays the tunes from Rent or Cats or something?
