Due respect, but your argument seems disjoint to the actual issue.
The OP wasn't saying that Comcast was right to do what they did, he suggested a better method for Comcast to use. There's no arguement going on, merely another option being presented.
Hey Zonk, how about using more reputable sources than one guy's blog for your links? I know they were picked by the submitter, but linking only to a blog and then putting a question mark after the headline is sketchy. I can't put much faith in the article if I can't be sure that it's not just a blogger talking out of his ass.
That's too bad. I am surprised though, it seems like lately the USA's been getting left in the dust on technology. I guess our lawmakers here in the US don't want to get between their constituents and their daily dose of TV!
Related to that in the literary realm, we've all been hearing about nanotech for years. I've working in sub-hundred-nanometer silicon for several years now, so I guess nanotech is getting a little passe'. I'm now reading Ray Kurzweil's "The Singularity Is Near" and I saw the term "picotech" for the first time.
Ray Kurzweil was on Coast to Coast AM a couple of weeks ago and talked about transhumanism, which apparently is the term for augmenting ourselves with computers and evolving ourselves to the next level of humanity. It was pretty neat, if you have the means of listening to repeats of that show I would suggest it. You might want to check out alt.binaries.sounds.radio.misc if your ISP has a decent retention level for Usenet. People tend to post Coast to Coast on that group as well as others.

Personally, I bought an HD DVD drive for my Xbox 360 so I would have some HD material for my HD TV and HD projector.
You should definitely look into getting an antenna hooked up to pull down some over-the-air HD programming. I thought I'd need some mega-huge antenna to get a signal because I live in a rural area, but I was able to use a powered rabbit ear antenna and I can get the five or six stations that broadcast near me. It looks really good, too. Saturday baseball on Fox is a highlight of the week for me now, because of the increased clarity and the wide screen view. You can see a lot more of the action. You might already know about OTA reception, but I'm surprised how many of my friends bought really nice HDTVs and are just using analog cable or analog broadcast TV.
Yeah, I hear you. Ubuntu's power management isn't too great. I think a lot of that has to do with the wonkiness of power management in general, though, because I've never had a version of Windows know how to properly put my computer to sleep and wake back up without crashing. With Ubuntu, I tried installing it on my Mac G5 and it decided to always run all of the fans at full speed. There are like fifteen fans in the computer. So it sounded like someone was vacuuming in the room the computer was in. Needless to say, I got rid of that quickly.
I don't blame you for returning it. I consider myself fairly resistant to being offended by things. I visit rotten.com all the time, I like watching the "Jackass" TV shows and movies, I swear all the time. However, playing the first Manhunt game was unsettling for me. I liked the mechanics of the game with all the sneaking around, but having to suffocate a guy with a plastic bag was too much for me. It made me feel bad, which isn't what I'm looking for in a game. Luckily I only borrowed that game from a co-worker.
Not if he writes words like amn't! I had to look that up. It's the first time I had ever read that word. Turns out it's a contraction used in Ireland and Scotland.
Right on. The way to hook new viewers is "Hook them with the hits, keep them with the skill." Once people begin watching hockey, they'll pick up on the intricacies of the game. I'm still amazed at the little techniques that players use to affect how a play develops. Little things like deflecting a puck a little bit, slowing down the opposing team, stuff like that. It's ridiculous that more Americans aren't into hockey. It's so much more interesting to me than football.
I thought this article was going to be about Sepultura and their song "Dead Embryonic Cells" being some sort of inspiration for science. Maybe it was, the scientists just didn't want to cop to it.
Sure, but you would think that they would calibrate the LED monitors to take into effect the different white light that was being produced. I mean, they know about it when they're designing the computers, they can compensate for that sort of thing so that when you look at the screen, the colors are still being projected right. It doesn't seem too far-fetched that these new LED monitors would be calibrated differently than the old LCD ones.
I not only don't miss the right mouse button, I prefer not having one! With the amount of times I'm needing to use the left mouse button as opposed to the right one, I'd rather not be accidentally hitting the right mouse button with my thumb. It's nice to have a big target down there under the track pad.
I did add the "Actions" button (the one that looks like a gear) to my Finder windows a while back which tended to be my main reason for right-clicking. If you haven't tried that, give it a shot. It's definitely increased my productivity while in the Finder.
I've been using Unix for ten years now and I'm still not 100% sure what the/etc directory's for. It seems like different applications use it for different things.
That blows. I just read the manual to the Mini off Apple's website. I would have thought that since they tell me how to add RAM in my Powerbook, they'd do the same with the Mini. Bummer.

The logic makes sense to me. Now, back to flipping through Muscle & Fitness Magazine! God, those guys are BUILT!

Yeah, I tried reading that sentence five times before I realized that there must have been a word missing. I've got a tiny headache now!

Nah, it's a typo. Supposed to be BMX. You should see the endos you can pull off with a Playstation 3.
I got one of those a while back. Does yours ever get stuck in a loop? Mine does, and it's infuriating! Good thing I picked it up cheap.

It's still informative, just not interesting. I was informed by reading this article that Google bought Postini, but I don't care anymore.
Classic. Well said, my friend.
I'm getting a lot of use out of my Wii also. The wait for Super Metroid on VC is tough though. I'd settle for any Metroid!
(posting from the Wii)
Yeah, Ricki, this is for that blue man guy. Dump the zero and get with the hero, girlfriend! Talk to the hand!

That song was going through my head yesterday! I've got to seek it out now and hear the whole thing. Lionel Richie's the man.

Yeah, no kidding. My life in the workforce is so much less stressful than finals ever were.

That's great. I might have to start using that phrase.
