    I understand you, and I'm as anti-SOPA as they come. The paradigm has shifted and all information & media are now for all intents and purposes 'free'. Erecting artificial support for the old model will only delay the inevitable. Where I disagree is that free software is not automatically safer & more trustworthy. It is now, sure, but how many people look at the source code for their Linux boxen to make sure it's trustworthy? They don't. They rely on a company, or a group of individuals, or a single person they trust to tell them it is-- exactly what they rely on when M$ tells them Windows and Office are, or Apple tells them OS X is. The old paradigm isn't going to go down without a fight. We could see the dismantling of the worldwide scope of the internet before all the smoke clears, each country having its own mini-internet according to its laws.

    I got the same boilerplate from them. The solution is to cancel Domains By Proxy is you're using it, and make sure your whois info is correct.

    I recently upgraded from a Phenom II 810 (quad-core, 2.6Ghz) to an i7-2600K (quad-core w/hyperthreading, 3.4Ghz). I saw a BIG difference in games. But you're right, most users are content with 'fast enough'.

    I have a 2600K too, and I've squeezed 4.2Ghz out of it with air. That said, the most demanding thing a person usually runs is games. And since games are more and more becoming nothing but shitty console ports (I'm looking at YOU, Bethesda!) I wonder, what's the point? Maybe I'll try some compiling myself.

    Women do not deserve to be put on pedestals simply because they're women any more than men deserve to because they're men. They do not deserve any more, or any less protection under the law. I wonder if this would be such a hot button news item if the dispute had occurred between two men who had a falling out over a business dispute?

    Where in the hell do you get racism out of his comment? I agree with him. When someone talks to me and every third word is "uh" and every sentence ends with "ya know?" it makes me cringe. Yes, I use colloqialisms. I say "y'all" and "ain't" but I also tailor my speech to the subject and to the situation. When you meet the Queen, you don't say, "Yo! Whassup Mama?" Any person going in for an interview with a Britney Spears speech affectation is going to find it hard to get a job. It makes you sound stupid.

    I'm not a geneticist, nor a professional scientist; just a layman & space enthusiast following the story. It seems to me she's trying to cast herself as a poor female being attacked by the male 'establishment', even though some of her most vocal critics are women. The scientific method ought to be the only criteria of judgment here. Has anyone duplicated her results?

    Because people aren't rational. If they bothered themselves with any semblance of critical thinking he's have no patients to begin with. I remember arguing with an ex years ago about herbal medicines and "Natural" healing... I asked her, if the ancients had the best answers, why do we live longer today than ever before? She was an otherwise intelligent woman but there was some kind of cognitive disconnect going on in her head when science clashed against belief, and in her head science always lost out. A lot of people are like that.

    Yes, I hate them. Call me a Luddite, and get off my lawn, but I think the basic concept of the windowed desktop GUI interface has been mature for a long time. This headlong rush to force a tablet interface onto desktop users is a mistake. It's bad enough that Windows 8 will be doing it, but the sad thing is, the way things are going with GNOME 3, Unity, etc., there'll be nowhere to run.

    You can have my desktop PC when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

    Thanks for the heads up. I put F16 on a VM tonight; Apper doesn't work (hangs on "waiting for service to start") but that may only be in KDE. I purposely didn't install the GNOME 3 DE. Back to Mint, until SUSE 12.1 on the 16th....
