Obviously some other people have played SMAC, but it seems like everyone doing reviews has either a) decided SMAC wasn't a sequel game, which, in terms of gameplay, it most certainly was, or b) just never played it.
I played that game to death, and I'm very, VERY curious what the differences and similarities are. Obviously I can infer some of them, but I don't know what I'm missing.
It would seem that Corporate America does the vast amount of the capital investment into the tech. industry, particularly with computers. So unless you foresaw Corporate Canada as being The Savior for Amiga, I think this statement stands as fair.
Total lack of anything but speculation in this article, and coming from the source, it seems like Whit is making a future career for himself as a troll if he ever decides to quit his day job.
Just a side note, but 'docomo', when pronounced, sounds just like 'dokomo', which in japanese means 'anywhere'. Don't know why they used Co instead of Ko, but then I don't know what DoCoMo stands for, explicitly, either.
It's my impression that the statements from 3dfx turned a 180. Originally it was pretty much decided that they were going to stop making video cards, then they changed their statements around some, then they changed them again to say 'No, none of it was true. Made ya look!'
Frankly, I don't think rumors like this just come out of nowhere, it may not be the truth, but most rumors have a slight grain of truth to them, and it's interesting to think about what the problem may be. Obviously 3dfx has been losing money for some time now, do these rumors signal a possible state of confusion amongst 3dfx employees? If I owned 3dfx stock, do I consider selling and investing in something that seems to have some sort of potential to go somewhere other than down? Of course this is all speculation, and shouldn't be treated as anything but just that, but it's still interesting, and for anyone who, like me, finds the timeline of the 3d-card business to be interesting, it IS stuff that matters, truth or speculation.
The really interesting part about this is that two galaxies can collide and the stars inside feel almost 0 difference. The reason being that the space between individual stars in a galaxy is so expansive compared to the actual mass of the star (and hence any sort of significant gravitational pull).
Okay, I don't follow, anyone want to clarify? (I'm more interested in the meanings of the words than the grammar)
defense to identify spectrum suitable
Guessing that's a "spectrums" - and if so, I have an ignorant question to follow-up. Could someone explain what spectrums mean in this context? I suppose I'm a tad ignorant in regards to the engineering side of bandwidth.
This along with the any new found spectrum will be auctioned off
Again, same thing. What's this mean?
Just so you know, very RARELY do people go to jail for stock fraud. They usually get slapped on the wrist, they have to start from square 1 (not a problem since the people behind the scam usually have a few million stored away), and they just do it again. Putting them in the red would only slow the crooked screwballs behind E*Trade down.
Great, so instead of landfills of inert plastic, we get landfills of aggressive, hungry fungi. Much more exciting! Hey Mom, watch me throw billy in the landfill!
I sense a DoS coming the way of Network Recovery Solutions (or whoever) in the near future. This kinda thing requires a lot of balls on the part of any company. Somehow I get the feeling they didn't think too hard about this possibility, but who knows.
I'm anxious to know when King's going to go after Qwest and AT&T and so on, claiming that pirating goes on on their backbones. I can't wait to see Internet vs. RIAA.
"honing the criteria towards unexploitable results?"
I think this would be, as per the topic, a bad place to apply the open source theory. I can't get too into specifics regarding the theory itself (I only know what I do from context, in all honesty), but having been involved with MUDs, FPS's, and other such systems where the drive to cheat is generally very high, issuing out information on how things work is very rarely a completely effective solution. While methods of cheating-prevention are established, the methods used to cheat become refined, similar to strains of insects and virii, to accomodate. Sometimes it ends in success, but very rarely.
The only way I can see this working is if the people behind the engine were constantly working on upgrading the grading process. This would probably require additional manhours on the budget sheet, and I doubt you could convince management that the cost-benefit was worth it.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it's only a little broke, don't look at it.
Anyone notice that he got a good chunk of boos at the VMAs? They also brought the kid behind Napster out. Had a Metallica t-shirt, made a comment about sharing it with a friend. Funny stuff.
What sort of subversive code were you thinking about? Not to incriminate, just curious what sort of ideas there were. I probably sound like a really unstealthy corporate worm right now, don't I.
The computer game, released by Nihilistic software not too long ago, is a really good melding of pencil-and-paper (does nayone really use pens for those things, c'mon now) RPGs and computer-game technology. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes both, you may be surprised!

Help!
Repeated, unenforced sanctions worked against Iraq, didn't it..? Right guys?!

that looked to be a pretty cool mod, too. i cry at the loss.

The end of it's trunk looks like, well.. not the end of any trunk I've seen, unless the appendage has 'grown' to mean other such shaped objects.
damn tab key.. I'll give up while I'm behind.
You know, 90% of young violent criminals

I donno, let's check the Constitution.. Nope, don't see anything. Define 'the right'. Under what moral framework?
to not make a 'funny' reply.

it might be that the author didn't have a choice by the publisher, Great, so we have a print version of the RIAA on our case now, huh?

Funny how someone seems to care about this, but nobody raised a finger at the lunacy of the antics in the 2600 case.
