Windows NT (which is what both 2000 & Vista build on) came in PPC and Alpha flavours. As such I would be surprised if MS had added x86 stuff to the boot. I would actually expect Microsoft to make sure Windows NT (and above) still compile for at least one other platform, as other processors might be better suited for certain tasks. Take hand held PCs, and game consoles for example.
I would not had thought it exists in NT (so 2000, and Vista), as NT exists on PPC & Alpha. I would be surprised if Vista could not be compiled for say PPC machines.
I seam to remember having three choices when I bought mine. 1) Device, no case, no earphones, no memory card 2) Device, soft case, earphones, 32M memory card 3) Device, hard case, earphones, 1G memory card.
I went with option two, found out the earphones were useless on the tube (ear-safe or somesuch) and a 2G card on the internet was dirt cheep. Should had gone for option one.
"The question of age restrictions, legally or voluntary, should be discussed not only for "shooter" games but also for [racing] games, which have an impact on traffic safety," Kubitzki said. I did not bother to RTFA but when do you let kids drive on the road?
I'm not sure if there are any rules when entering the UK
I looked into this a little while ago as my daughter has dual nationality. Unlike many countries, dual nationals do not need to use a UK passport to enter the UK.
Plus for a lot of us art and fun ARE mutually exclusive.
I (as do others) consider chunks of Doom (the video game) art. I (as do others) enjoy, and have fun walking round the Tate Modern.
Your post is about extremists. They exist in every field, and almost universally should be ignored. Some art is "for the masses". Sometimes art and entertainment work well together.
Games as Art, and Games as fun are not mutual exclusive. I don't know about Hecker, but most "Games as Art" people do not believe that all games should be "art". The Games As Art "movement" is split into three groups: 1) People who believe that some games are art. 2) People who believe that some elements of games are art. 3) Extremists that seam to believe that all games must be art.
Not many people fall into the final group, they are however very vocal.
A lot of people use it to mean a company that creates games
I find "games developer" normally means "a person who works on creating games". From sound artist to AI programmer to pointy haired boss.
Many moons ago when I left Uni I dumpped all my data on to a "free" online storage location, knowning that for a month or so I'd be netless, and unable to move my data any other way.
A month later and it was no longer free, and all my content was "pay up in 60days, or we will delete the lot".
The engine is just a tool, like a guitar, tin whistle or music mixing software. Sure I can make music with just my body parts, but a rock song would sound much better(1) if I buy a guitar and some music mixing software. The same is true for software, I could make a game with various free tools, but it would be a better game if I use some that I have to pay for in some way.
1) Given that my musical ability craps out at "Twinkly Twinkly Little Star" on the tin whistle, this might not be true in my case.
Depends on how you define "casual" gamer, & "hardcore". The Industry seam to define it as people who only play games that use simple, easy to pick up rules, which does not involve blasting stuff, or any complex plot. Given that the secretory here spends all day playing Solitaire (a "Casual" game). - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casual_game
"Hardcore" gamers play "hardcore" games. Which include complex rules, and blasting stuff. Sometimes they pretend they also have a plot.
So did the UK.
Stupidness is equally distributed to all nations.
You would have to rewrite applications written in machine code, and compilers. Not many modern applications are written in machine code.
Wow, I should not post when knackered.

Word, VB and the like are a different matter.

Why do it in Lego? You don't need the re-configability of Lego, melted bits of plastic are just that.

You can get a Unix/Linux a-like for the C64. :)
I disagree. I don't want to piss about making a PC. I just want a powerful box that does what is says it does.

I'm sure the UK has a truck load of homegrown terrorists to work with. Complete with British passport and soon ID card.
Cool. I should start an ePetition calling for it. :)
They are implementing the same FS as BeOS had (BeFS). So not "new" at all. OFS (Old Be FS) had Even More database goodness I believe.

Counter Strike, The Ship (OK, not that big), Natural Selection?
MODs will take this roll. They will not be GoW, but they will be good enough that someone will hand you cash to make it into a "A" rated game.
