  1. Re:Who cares? on World Cup Final · · Score: 1

There is a very good reasons why the clock counts up. A half is never a full 45 minutes. First you play 45 minutes and then the game is extended, at the officials' discretion, to make up for any stoppages during the game. Hence there is no definite number to count down from as there is no definite half length.

I suppose you could count down from 45, but you'd end up with -3 minutes or something.

Then check out DVD Region X for the PS2. Older versions came with a special memory card, newer versions just take up space on a standard memory card. You boot from a special disc, then it prompts you to choose your region. You select it, the disc tray opens, you replace the disc, push in the tray and then select the DVD in the browser.

It is simple and it works. I use it all the time to view R1 DVDs with my R2 PS2. Your TV has to be capable of outputting the PAL source though, which is one area where Europe has an advantage. Our TVs these days are almost always PAL/NTSC compatible, whereas US TVs rarely have PAL compatibility.

You have to get an NTSC version of DVD Region X. I know it exists, but I don't know where you buy it. The PAL version is widely available and is made by Datel Electronics.

Finally, you can plug in codes from the website, if you update your PS2 DVD driver version.

Perhaps these channels are not as widespread as you thought - hence the usage of annoying logos to bring attention to them.

Try speaking to someone who has learned English as a second language. English may be very simple in terms of structure (no sex for nouns and suchlike) but what makes it difficult is pronunciation - they are next to no rules on how things are pronounced. The American people, believe it or not, actually are angry all on their own because their lives have been disrupted, and they're tired of terrorism.

    Tired of Terrorism? Lives disrupted?

What has happened is terrible and tragic. However, the US population as a whole cannot be "tired of terrorism" because up until know they have not seen it. It has not affected them at all.

Terrorism, when it works, causes changes of lifestyle. It forces you to have to do things differently to how you normally would. It may seem trivial to you, but in my 25 years of living in the UK I have never seen a litter bin at a train station (I have lived in London, Birmingham and rural Warwickshire) due to the threat that it presents. This threat was largely funded by US citizens (and we are supposed to be your allies). It is the little things like that which build up over 30 years or so which makes you tired of terrorism. The signs everywhere in the cities warning of suspect packages and bomb threats, the constant shutting down of public places due to someone accidentally leaving a bag somewhere. The cancelled trains, the closed city centres.

These things make you tired of terrorism. What happened in NY makes you angry. It makes you very, very angry. It does not make you tired.

Remember, as far as a terrorist is concerned, an empty bag that disrupts normal life for your target is also a victory.
