Okay, A-Z, 0-9, and a period. Then one word of yours wouldn't work, and I'm sure you could set some sort of threshold... x words out of n in a row. But this is all picking nits.
Dumb question, but someone mentioned the odd spellings these days... ba|\|a|\|a = banana. How many people spell that way? Why not tell the spam filter that more than one word using ^[A-Z] (for English language) has an increased likelihood of being spam?
I just googled for "states without sales tax" on Google, and came up with all 5 of them: "Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon are the five states that currently do not impose[...]"
Given that your 48 number is wrong, even though I'd love to believe you I must doubt you. Do you have some proof of the numbers?
Something I've looked at is getting the Citrix client for Linux to work under Knoppix. It semi-worked under 3.2, didn't work under 3.3. I tried building a Morphix disk with it, no luck. Any suggestions on how to get it to work, or make a distro with it, would be greatly appreciated.
Except that the metal bracket helps act as a heatsink, so your drive will run hotter and so last long. (Then again, the rubber mounts isolate the metal bracket from the pc case, and so that'll run a bit warmer than before)
Combine this and an earlier post, and you have a good idea. Why not do several episodes together as a "miniseries"? Do one or two a year. How many Pretender "special events" did they do? A bunch.
And yes, Farscape rocked. It's main problem was it's accessability - they really needed a _GOOD_ "Farscape Undressed" for each season. A one hour "here's what you missed". The first Undressed was great, but all they did was reair it before season 3 (or 4), no new footage even though a lot of the villians and relationships had changed.

I doubt it's going to happen, at least for several years. I asked several friends what they thought. Universally, it was panned. Most of them only use 1-5% of their allotted yahoo mail quota, so they didn't see the big deal. And, the yahoo address is on old resumes, etc, so they'll still check yahoo... and at that point, why check google as well? Makes sense if you look at it that way.
Personally, I wouldn't mind being able to upload all my mailbox files from over the years, which probably total 300 mb. And then it's all handy, all in one place.
yeah yeah yeah, OT, I know. If you see this in the next half hour, (just after midnight Eastern time US), check out Cartoon Network - they're adding mustaches. Not sure how, but on still shots people get mustaches. Same on some motion, but it's hilarious to see- the mustache may stay still and the person move, or the mustache may move before the person does. Anyhow, happy fools day!
Bull. Apple conference in 1981. I love how it's been debunked by Bill saying he didn't know. Kinda like how Bob Eubanks claimed for years the "in the butt" urban legend was false... until they found a video of it happening.
if a decent percentage of people dropped the major networks? Let's see, what do I watch on the majors?
Alias
Wonderfalls (suprisingly good and sarcastic, btw)
um...
Wow. I might get Fox, because they tend to go out there and show something interesting (this year, Wonderfalls. Last year, Firefly)...but kill it mid season. But that's more than the other 3 are doing.
I suspect _that_ would really shake things up. And if a large percentage didn't get the big three, the advertising consequences would probably bump up the viability of some of the smaller networks.
My thought is that with open source, you could fix that spelling mistake quite easily (ask the doc author, fix your own copy, submit a checkin in CVS with the fix, etc), whereas the only way that'll get fixed with MS is if many people make fun of it... and then maybe it'll get fixed.
The irony is the next line: "Consequently, if bugs go unresolved, users have the option to resolve problems by scouring through numerous community sites and chat rooms." (as opposed to emails to MS that'll never be read)
You haven't played Neverwinter, have you? Granted, it's not totally openended, but there are several thousand modules. And even bad modules can be saved if you have a (good) DM. Our group plays every week for 3-4 hours a week. And IMHO we do more "gaming" than a full day of Pen & Paper. There's so much time spent rolling dice instead of telling a story. We once spent (in Shadowrun, so you already get some idea) 6 hours on a firefight. When we were all done, it turned out to have taken 21 seconds (7 turns, SR1). Shooting's cool, fighting's cool, but story is cooler. Give it a shot if you haven't already.
This is real simple. BUY A REFURB. Dell.com/outlet. It's already been tested, burned in. They'll even ship it the same day for an extra $50. Comes in real handy at times like this... or when your server just burst into flames and you need a new one NOW. (Got it before 10am the next day)
Okay - Firefox I understand. Lots of people just need a browser at work, for instance. But to be honest, if I need an email program I probably need a browser. What's the advantage of a standalone email client?
I believe my first recollection of Avatar was in Vernor Vinge's "True Names", published 1981. ("True Names & Other Dangers", a collection of short stories which included it, was published in 1987)
I _still_ haven't been able to turn it up all the way and have it run smoothly (especially with Midnight Madness). Granted, I'm only an athlon 1.4 and a geforce three, but for a 5 year old game, I'm mighty impressed/surprised
These are the models once carried by AT&T that are affected: [...] Nokia N-Gage [...]
Aside from the inevitable N-Gage jokes, what gives? Considering the N-Gage just came out the past few months, you'd think it wouldn't have shipped with the old configuration.

Diiiiiiiiiiiinoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
(followed by Fred getting locked out of the house, in order to avoid the lame filter. Although adding this made it more lame)

Are people now submitting stories mentioned in subthreads yesterday, and getting them accepted? This was mentioned in the Google thread.

Doh! Didn't see that when I posted. Stupid internet.
