    I hate the TSA, and body scanners, and taking my shoes off as much as the next guy. But if the blogger was lying, then that is some pretty serious defamation of character that took place.

    That's probably OK for the next couple of years, while the digital TV switch is recent enough that people are still giving/throwing away their analog TVs. But by 2014-15, the cost of adding the analog TV interface to every motherboard just for the tiny few which will find new cheap analog TVs will not be worth it.

    Certain technologies tend to linger much longer in the third world where they cannot afford to throw away a 5 year old TV that still works.

    So, at that point we are basically selling a computing core, ram, and some storage for $25.

    Actually, I believe the only storage is via the SD slot, with no card included.

    The minor political movement surrounding your incarceration would likely not happen today. Hacking has become a state-sponsored activity, with China attacking Google and America/Israel attacking Iran.

    Do you think your life would be a lot different if you were born 10 years later?

    Seems like hacking/security would be a lot different if he were born 10 years later.

    They took an oath "I do solemnly swear, or affirm, that I will support the Constitution of the United States ...". Voting for a law that clearly violates the Constitution means they violated their oath of office.

    And this is different than all the other countless times a law has been struck down... how?

    computer mice need only one button and no scroll wheel
    the Power PC is a faster and better platform than x86
    Apple is not going to release a netbook

    If it can indeed cover an area that large, how many users could a single AP support?

    So, simple maths suggest that we're definitely not going to have reception if we're more than 62 miles away from the tower, and that doesn't take into account the curvature of the earth, the height of the tower, atmospheric distortions, etc. but it does suggest the standard would allow for decent reception within a 30 mile radius. That ain't too bad.

    somehow they were relevant enough to push and make popular by being early adopters, even of tech they didn't invent and even of things others sold but didn't make wildly popular. USB, Firewire, SCSI, gui with mouse, touch smartphones,

    This doesn't change the fact that there was still demand for 3.5" floppy drives for several years after Apple stopped including them.

    AT&T's trickle of a pipe (3 MB/sec) isn't sufficient with my family of four and my various other IT things going.

    Maybe you should compalin to Netflix for using such crappy codecs. Hulu or ABC's website streaming look awesome at much lower bandwidths.

    Unfortunately, we don't have all of the data, nor do we have the capacity to properly put it together and determine what risks and rewards, exactly, are at stake. Perhaps it is riskier to avoid mild risks in the short term, which help train you to deal with greater risks in the long term?

    A society's advance is measured by risk reduction, so stuff can be achieved without a large proportion of people being harmed in the process.
