I believe that all 'we' have 'caused', is not having a dramatic impact against this planet.
This planet will survive, with or without our services. We, I feel are irellivent in the planets choices.
Us humans; surviving on the other hand, will require more thought than the "my g*d they are hurting the planet" scenario.
The planet will look after itself; this (I believe at the moment) is the case if humans (as we know them) didn't occour.
Humans, (us) require the delicate balance that is nature; to survive (all considered). It just so happens (in my opinion) that we will not find that balance until it is beyond our immidiate control.
If someone wants to show otherwise, email me at "UK (united kingdom) duty paid at Google email services.com" otherwise known as no spaces, nothing in the brackets at gmail.com. [you got it!, trust yourself!].

"First, I've never heard of police cars being equipped with live OCR equipment. First you'd have to be able to single out the license plate text from that of the neighboring car, or a road sign, or even a piece of litter tumbling across your Line-of-Sight."
Trials (successful) were run a couple of years ago in Nottingham UK, automated licence place reading.
They were designed to monitor distance/time, if the average speed is 90mph, you were speeding, a letter is sent out automaticaly.
The issue here is that they could potentialy monitor an individual's movements throuought the country, automaticaly.
The system never took off.
Currently they are attempting to set up innner city congestion charges in London. If you pass a certain boundry and enter the inner city, a camera automaticaly registers your licence plate and sends you a bill. If you are a regular, you can buy a season ticket. This system may not be 'wsitched on' although it is already installed throuought most of the city and the databases have already been built.
(Don't bother replying with grammer/spelling corrections, I don't care.)
I have been waiting for single song prices, but I still can't understand why a record label can't give a shop a Pc with a writer and usb. You walk in and either buy (per song) a cd compelation that you created (no shit songs on the album where evry other song is perfect) or upload them to your laptop/ipod from an arcade game style unit. Cool that they are doing it online now, prolly better than the song idea anyway.
Hang on a second, what was that law, evry action has an eaqual an opposite reaction.
You are sitting on a boat with a sail and a big fan, you point the fan at the sale to blow teh boat forewards.
You are in a space ship, you have your gravity 'box' and you turn it on to pull your ship towards it.
or
a magnet (The gravity box) and a peice of iron (space ship) they would just pull themselves together and stop, the actions of movement would cancel each other out.
Tell me if I am wrong, hey I am not any physicist or anything but I think that an anti gravity drive wouldn't work unless you could direct it at something witout mass (the ship), then you may be moving.
I agree, I don't understand why on DS9 it was always the same group of people. It got boring quite quickly.
At least in Voyager you met the rest of the crew. In nearly every episode you met someone new in engineering:)
TNG was entertaining, I liked Pickard, "Engage". He had a most powerful and wise ambiance. Unlike Ben Sisco, who would only be assertive if he was angry, or someone toughed his fkin baseball!!!
Sorry didn't mean to post anon...
The rocking thingie... I saw something about that on Tomorrows World (BBC TV) a few months ago.
A pair of goggles, with electromagnets near the ear around the temple and behind the ear. When the magnets were turned on, it would fool the ear into thinking that you were leaning so the body would automaticaly compensate. this only worked with a full HUD because if the eye can see the horison it overrides the ear.
What about using BE as the OS, it's multimedia enhancements are absoultly awesome, this would create a revenue for people at BE.
The GUI is quick to load, the filesystem is designed to handle extremely large files, multiprocessor support, lots of not so fast processors (not neccessarily intel) would be affordable and would increase cheaply the clock cycles.
Available in a rack mount, but a pretty one in diffrent colours to attempt to fit in with the living room, it would just look like a cupboard or they could be separated and could be scattered around the living room dvd player by the telly, cd player by the cd rack, these things don't have to be big, the CD/DVD-RW could be no bigger than a portable DVD player, take yer storage device (number 2 100Gb) to your mates house to watch a movie on his 52" LGP screen.
Interconectivity, somesort of extremly quick wireless interface betwen components, could cause issues with next door neighbours with a similar setup, (that would be another topic though).
I think firewire or usb2 would be clever and a cheaper option.
As an added bonus the device(s) could have the drivers intergrated on a rom, when it is plugged in or brought near, it broadcasts that it is here and needs installing.
Mabye each item with it's own processor, so the 'unit' made up of individual devices is not crippled when the PSU module goes down.
Automatic updates (optional) for all software, inc flash rom chips.
.....and yes if you like you can browse the net/send emails.
I got Higher French/German results than my english Lang/Lit. Passed all GCSE's. Art and IT got A* continued to do GNVQ level 3 Advanced art and design, then Degree in fine art, Got bored in art, it had all been done before and no money in it. So the following year after selling some paintings in a local gallery and woking in a joinery i decided to get back into IT, Did G&G level II microcomputer maintanence and enjeneering, then a Level III, and Diploma in novell 3.12 and NT wrks/srvr administration and network administration. Got a good job i.e. loadsa cash for little work. Who needs to spell anyways, there are such things as spellcheckers, but only for important documents.
yeah yeah, a drunken dyslexic post, late at nigh, u get the picture.....:)
Funny how all the dyslexics I meet can actualy spell dyslexic but this is the word that we get the most agony about. 'Sooo you are dyslapstic, dicexptic, dissloposite etc...'
Yeah I'm a little stuck on that one (GPA). American?
:-)
Not important enough to Google for it though
bang bang.
Duch coffee sock, a permeable materieal 'sock' that sits in the cup, supported on a wire loop that stops teh whole thing plopping into the cup.
Don't know if that's what theyre called but I've had mine for years, makes the perfect brew every time!
Apart from the new phones such as the 6111 which use a smaller pin. None of the existing chargers fit.
Briefcase combination locks on the lid?
;-)
All screws under the keyboard.
Lol, hairy muff.
Would something like this be of use? http://www.killbox.net/
Well said that man.
I am glad somebody told me that before it was too late!!
How long did the cigarette burn?
Have you got the article? I would be interested in reading it.

So why exactly should we be held responsible for their government's failures?

I can't even be arsed to reply to this 'story'.
I just did.... is that a paradox?

BE OS can address 18 Pentabyte files(theoreticaly).
This is of course limited by the current hardware, but a raid array of these, now that would be smart!
