    Apart from some core functions and drivers everything under windows sits on top of something else, wine just makes most of the librays sit on top of the linux core.

    The bare bones system call level of linux and windows are quite simila, threading, process supprot and IPC's a little differnt, files and sockets are both posix.

    Well, in 2-3 years time you'll probably be able to get a 1ghz phone with 512mb ram and 10gb solid state storage.

    Then you'll be complaining that your tv doesn't have usb or bluetooth or wifi to transfer recordings onto your phone.

    Wow, what a stereo type, so ' serious researchers', don't listen to music of watch films and so have no interest in file sharing.

    Most researchers I've known do like music and films, in-fact there probably not going to be able to make it out and would probably download stuff instead.

    Like from where I'm sitting most of the law makers are a tad further to the right than me, and probably most people on /..

    Now,
    being to the 'right' generally means you believe in ownership and laws should be designed to protect YOU from the horrors of the world (well those that we havn't made extinct).

    and being on the 'left' means that you believe in giving and that laws are designed to help eveyone get along.

    The problem is, being a bit of a lefty means that you'll just, well, put up with the stupid people on the right(I expect they think your stupid too), so they get away with it.

    Now, unless you go a little to the right, pop down the local gun shop and start taking out the MPAA there ain't noone comming to your rescue, there all, well, putting up with it.

    The man on the left said lets talk, so I hit him. never was one for talking to strangers.

    Well, by you definition any slum is third world and and crack house is first world.
    I think you'll find as many slums and crack houses in china as the USA. The difference is that the crack houses in china are on the cost and full of old people and the ones in the USA are inner city and full of white shirts.

    Second World, that's the commies.
    Third world, that's everyone else.

    Some third world countries do very well, (I think india's in there?)
    And some 'firts world' countries arn't doing to good, e.g. The USA with it's horrible patent system.

    Lets face it, you probably helped start the cold war, and the whole nuclear arms race. Hitler wasn't that bad either, I wish he'd finished killing off all the religious right, then maybe we wouldn't have so many problems in the middle east (or george bush for that matter).

    Japan, no oil, full of nuclear reactors. French has lots of nukes too, and I don't think people in the UK would mind too much either.

    We do however object to Americans and Religious people being the two groups who have given us the most grief 'ever' I expect.

    Well, we already off load most of our CO2 production to third world countries and china, the decline in manufacturing and farming (yes farting cows) is significantly helping to reduce our CO2 levels.

    The outsourcing of work to other countries is also keeping our inflation low, cheep imports=low inflation, we hardly produce any food in this country.

    So don't be greedy, let a heavily polluting country like China or a country with next to no resources like Japan have the pride in have a fusion research faculty.

    Except in this case (Crosover office) it isn't really a player/burner sice the functionality doesn't work.

    I suggest you file a counter compalint about the damage hard pavement has done to you knees. If the pavement was of original quality (dirt, grass and pebbles) then you wouldn't have had the problems.

    Same goes for if you fall over and land on the concerete that someone put in the way of the nice soft dirt underneath.

    Well there's linux, free, open etc...
    and there's ITunes, closed, drm,
    expensive ($1 for a track that has 1/10 the value of a cd track), and possibly illeagal.
    How in xyz years time when the copyright on the DRM track I've perchased runs out can I put the work into the public domain?

    e.g. JBuilder will refactor for you, jbuilder will check the syntax while you type, jbuilder support code completion, JBulder lets you step through and modify your code in runtime.

    Do the people have to use vi to write there code?
