Gotta give respect to those who called for war and actually turned up to help out. I wonder if they still believe whatever they believed when they enlisted...
How did a country go from being founded by men who distrusted government to a country where you are denigrated for questioning your government so quickly?
If you can't handle insulting words when used to describe people who do bad things, you really need to get over yourself.
I've been spewing the facts since 2003. Now I just don't give a fuck about convincing anyone who hasn't already realized what a fuck up and pathetic failure our president and our military has been.
Those douchebags are getting 3-4 times normal pay for helping Bush's amoral police action. I shed no tear for their deaths. They are profitting from an illegal, amoral and unethical display of power.
As for the military, well, the guys who were already in before Bush started this conflict get my sympathy. Sucks to be them, but they knew what they were getting into.
If you signed up for this evil war after it began, you deserve whatever you get at the hands of the Iraqis.
I like watching belligerant and imbecillic assholes fail fail fail. The military told us no more than 6 months. The White House told us $50 Billion dollars. They were warned, now they get mocked.
We got the call a few months ago that our systems need to be 'pandemic-resilient' by the end of the next devel-deploy cycle. Basically, your average multiple-geography high-availability solutions will serve. I guess the plan is that if one datacenter goes away, the others will pick up the work with no interruption.
Generally, figure it out — among yourself — whether you think, a 100%-effective law-enforcement is a good goal at all... In this particular case, without a "paper trail", the wrongfully-targeted citizen would have no need to defend themself.
This makes absolutely no sense. 100%-effectice law enforcement is a good goal, but not at the expense of personal liberty and rights. Your last sentence makes my brain hurt. Are you saying that because there was no record of the government abuse, the abuse didn't happen?
You didn't see the 'free speech zones' at Republican conventions and functions, ensuring that protestors could not get near the speakers and not show up on the TV cameras?
You didn't notice that even the Democrats went along with the warrant-less wire tapping scheme that Bush has been pushing?
I don't have time to come up with a good rant, otherwise I'd show you want one was:D
The same generation of people who shoved anti-USSR pro-USA propaganda down my throat in school are the ones trying to make the USA like the 1980s USSR they hated so much. "The USA is the best country because we have freedom of speech, and the government doesn't spy on you." they said. Now-a-days political speech at conventions is squealched and the government lackies can spy on the people with no need to get a warrant or create any other paper trail that could help a wrongfully-targeted citizen defend themself.
We're not USSR yet, but we seem to be trending in that direction.
If we give up all our freedoms, will the terrorists stop hating us?
It's just that where I work, one single Master server is NOT 'good enough' and this solution would be laughed out of the meeting. Multiple masters in different physical locations with automatic failover would be the baseline. I guess I'm not seeing it from their perspective.
We're expected to give up many rights in the 'war on drugs', so no, you can't bring your pot back. Of course, if you are suspected of pirating music, your house and car cannot be seized (and never seen again even if found innocent) like would happen were you caught growing pot.
Alcohol laws enable police to stop and search you at 'checkpoints' with no probably cause. The supreme court wasn't thinking much about the constitution the day they rubber stamped that anti-DUI tyranny.
Just making a point that with the recent law changes, this scenario inches closer to possibility.
I always found it amusing that we had to invade Iraq because Saddam was committing genocide and all of his human rights violations, but we bend over backwards for China. I think the same geniuses who thought Iraq would pull a 180 if they got democracy think that China will undergo a similar change once the people taste the fruits of capitalism.
The US Gov't doesn't need to tell anyone about who they spy on...that's Bush's warrent-less wiretapping scheme! No judge will ever find out, and the agencies doing the snooping are protected from testifying because it is a 'state secret'. You could be spied on, branded a "terrorist" with no paper trail and disappeared forever.
I hope you are trolling, I really do. Especially since the pro-business concerns in the USA would LOVE to turn the clock back on environmental protections and consumer safety in order to turn a bigger profit.
Why is it in their best interest to send money through the USA when we don't make much of what they want to buy, and we can't afford to buy what they sell?
Do you see what I did there?

Sorry if that bothers you, nothing personal.

Which is kinda cool, we're getting something positive for our money.

Interesting stuff.

:D

...but it doesn't make sense to compare the evil Catholic Church with Dalai Lama's teachings and the accompanying organizational structures.
Of course, maybe I just know more about the Catholic church so I know more evil things that they do.

In other words...takes one to know one!
That sounds even viler. Ouch.
I'm prepared to shoot moralizers for the sake of teens!

I wonder who we bought it from back in the 60s and 70s when the microchip was invented...
Probably not a commie country, that is for sure! I'm sure we could find these rare materials from a country that plays fair.
Maybe Canada?

If Antiguan businesses offer fair prices on media, I'll be buying it from them! As always, a big "FUCK YOU" to the US media industry is in order.
Is that your point? 'Cause Microsoft is making a metric assload of money off of Windows, and Apple is making money off of OSX too.
I think I smell a Google fan-boy.

The French did it so it's cool if we do it? I used to try that argument when I was 10 years old, and nobody was falling for it then either.
Will you next tell me that Democrats and Republicans are both corrupt and bad for our nation...which you recetnly determined in 2006?
People scared of gays and trumped up claims of terrorism elected him.
But you're probably right.
The Kohran very clearly states that other religions are false. As does the Bible and the Torah. These books are fairly easy to find :)
In addition, consider theological debate between to contrary religions, and how it is published frequently.
