You mean AmigaOS isn't a vaporious dream?

  2. Re:That's neat -- but I'll stick with SOAP::Lite on Using SOAP with Tomcat · · Score: 1

If you've got the cash for hardware, Java application servers are a dream for scaling.

  3. Yeah Right! on The Myth of Open Source Security Revisited v2.0 · · Score: 2, Insightful

You assume that exploits are found by combing the source code. The majority of discovered exploits are found by actually exploiting/being exploited by them!

  4. Re:Cigarettes are not good for you ? on Magazines Faking Game Reviews? · · Score: 1

Please see "It is believed a politician has lied". Thank you.

In my experience, far too many online retailers are shady.

  6. Clever... on Borking Outlook Express · · Score: 0, Troll

But not that profound. Does it rate to be an article? Or is it a subtle trick to drive up page hits by trolling for anti-microsoft flames?

  7. Sometimes I hate being a cyni...I mean realist. on New Thoughts in Public Transportation · · Score: 1

This will fail utterly. Can you imagine pepole defiling the little cars? Blech. Oh, and a grid is going to replace the eisting infrastructure? Hardly, the cars will still have to follow the existing routes. Pipedream.

  8. Oh well...I won't miss it... on The Tick to be Cancelled · · Score: 2, Interesting

Sorry, I was brought up on the Tick Cartoon, not the comic book. Missing all m favorite villians was one strike. The loss of Tick's yperKinetic movements was a 2nd strike. There really was no third strike, but I didn't see the show getting a hit anyway. It was a good try though...

  9. Oh boy... on LDAP Tools - Where are they? · · Score: 1

I've used the DMT tool, and found it lacking. At least in v3.2.1. It has serious issues when you attempt to modify the schema. I've only used it with the SecureWay directory, and because the schema storage methods tend to differ between vendors, it may not even work with yours.

  10. Scary, but honestly... on Judge Upholds FBI Keyboard Sniffing · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Do any of you actually do anything that would merit the FBI spying on you?

  11. Technical Support - how can you compare? on Perception of Linux Among IT Undergrads · · Score: 1

Considering the development models of the two operating systems, asking which one is "better" doesn't make much sense. Well to me, anyway.

  12. Do they simulate brawls as well? on Robots, Robots, Robots · · Score: 1

'Cause you can't leave out the influence of the crowd on a match!

  13. look out... on U.S. Shuts Down Somalia Internet Access · · Score: 1

By suggesting the use of google to find terrorist links, you have become a terrorist link yourself. Prepare to have your plug pulled...

  14. Re:*rubs hands with glee* on EFF To Defend Music Swapping Service MusicCity · · Score: 1

The damn 'c' is right next to the 'x' and when I was un-tarring my webpage into the new filesystem, I ended up clobbering the only copy I had :/ I'm too damn lazy to rebuild just yet...

  15. *rubs hands with glee* on EFF To Defend Music Swapping Service MusicCity · · Score: 1, Redundant

It may take years, but I'm confident that the ability to trade files (no matter the content) will remain free of prosecution.

  16. IBM is better than most... on What Do You Do When CS Isn't Fun Any More? · · Score: 1

Now you can pleasure yourself with no physical motion, nor any batteries to change!

  19. PIII prices rising?! on Motherboards with i845 Chipsets · · Score: 1

Not according to pricewatch. I hope they don't go up, I was hoping to buy a pair of 1GHz chips for chepa in a few months.

  20. Re:We already ARE cashless on How Feasible is a Cash-Less Society? · · Score: 1

I get these things as change from the stamp vending machine, and from the the Metro-North ticket vending machines.

  21. Re:i hope someone succeeds on TransOrbital: The Commercial Race To The Moon · · Score: 1

Unless they plan to live off the moon's rock, there is no real danger except with radioactive waste.

  22. Yeah no kidding... on ClearChannel Plays It Safe · · Score: 1

But ClearChannel is a corporation, so they're automatically evil. Doesn't matter to me, the clearchannel station near me plays the same 25 shitty songs over and over again anyway.

  23. Only a matter of time.. on ReplayTV 4000 Series Shares TV Over Net · · Score: 1

...until someone with a little time reverse-engineers the transmission method and captures the video with a PC. Of course, it'll probably be encrypted, and that brave soul would be risking eternal damnation by breaking the Digital Millenium Copywrong act. Bleh.

  24. Headed for a lawsuit? on ReplayTV 4000 Series Shares TV Over Net · · Score: 3, Redundant

This device sounds great! Too great, in fact. You can skip the commercials, then send the shows to people on the internet?! Surely some body will sue this company into oblivion, as their device enables users to enjoy TV without being subjected commercials!

Maybe I had better buy one before it's too late.
