I sure as hell hope you only use IBM computers. What you say? You do not (it'd be particularly ironic if you use a Compaq)? Then where do you get off as saying that reverse engineering is somehow wrong.

Besides, plenty of Americans despise MS as well. Taking MS down in any fashion is similiar to taking down Capone on tax evasion. We know they are guilty of a lot, but we will go with whatever we can prove.

And TurboLinux was not designed from the ground up, it was based off of Red Hat. Mandrake and Conectiva (which became Mandriva) are RH derived. Gentoo is conceptually related to LFS. Vector is designed to be a Small Linux, and Slax is derived from Slackware. Linspire and Xandros are siblings being both derived from CorelOS, itself a Debian derivative. I am pretty sure Julex and Puppy are Slackware derived.

The way I read it is that the Linux people they found would not rush something out the door. You typical Linux admin will want to go thorugh a rigourous testing phase and write up some scripts to automate all the regular process, while a Windows admin will slap something together and shout "It boots so it works". Managers are often pennywise and pound foolish so wil go after the Windows option.

Additionally, they probably had unrealistic expectations of expertise. Most Linux admins would be willing to learn on the job, but you need to allow a bit of time to learn. Of course, thier current admins could have RTFM to learn on the job, but...
