Colleges and the educational system as a whole didn't evolve much. It's driven by the old "teacher and student" ideal and by the ready-to-serve needs of corps. When you see people moving on to something else.... maybe you should make your own system evolve?
Look, am a guy who supports SOPA, okay? Problem is, SOPA ain't very popular. I only have a couple of bro congressmen in my pocket. So I need "popular" friends to support it, okay? But hey wait! That guy, Nike, is quite popular, he's like the richest kid in the rich folks, you know? I will ask him to support my SOPA soap, and in exchange, I give him some "donations", so that he will make some "donations". Oh and when later he needs support for some cool idea of his that will probably end up being unpopular (say, cutting chinese hands that make bad not-Nike shoes), me and my bro congressmen will support him all the way.
The whole problem is the concept of "the middleman". He's between the producer and the consumer, making sure everything works well. But when the system evolves to the point where the middleman isn't need anymore.... Just face it, you'r not supposed to play the same old role and expect it to last forever.

First time I spend all my mod points on funny comments. I ain't complaining.
For a second, I thought "it would be cool if the guys behind the new CoD could read this and learn a bit"...
But then I thought that they would just make X sequels of CoD where the first one is innovating and the rest are the same rules applied over and over again because they work.
This breakdown of the game, part by part, must look like some kind of a miracle recipe for those who want a quick buck (read: every CEO out there).
Somehow, Portal ranks strangely in the "violent games" category. Sure, there are turrets shooting at you and fires burning you and glowing balls disintegrating you and all that kind of stuff... But the turret screams "Sorry" or "No harsh feelings" before shooting.
Sure, Portal is kinda bloody, but it's bloody in cute way.
But did Anonymous ever focus on a collective agenda? They were always bored, and someone gave them a target, and if the target was "lulzy" enough, they would "raid". The irl actions followed exactly the same pattern. At best, they have momentary flagships they follow. At worst, they are just picking at random things for the lulz.
And back then, when Ben Ali was still here and the riots started taking more and more regions, the gov't had the great idea of forbidding people from going to places where they might have the silly idea of "forming" a riot. Thus, football games were stopped, university courses cancelled...
Predictably, those who used to watch football every Sunday suddenly had nothing to do, and those who were preparing for exams found themselves in holidays... Why not join the riots?
When men are of equal value. And they should be. But in a corporate environment, the one who owns the place is better than you, and has more voting rights than you.
And we had to learn certain protocols of experimentation and manipulation and what not. I know that this kind of knowledge isn't a waste, but honestly. The first time I entered an analysis lab, I found those exact protocols printed on a paper and posted on the walls, and the chief researcher advised us to use the lab's computer to look up the protocols in case we have a doubt.
When I think of the insistence of certain professors about learning these by heart and their numerous occurrences in exams, I can't hep but feel cheated. They could have invested that time explaining other things or just delving deeper into the logics behind them.
Exactly my thought. 12 km is a close call and it doesn't happen that often, something like this could have been noticed, and announced, much much earlier.
We have less crime in my dark neighborhood than many nearby well-lit ones
That's probably because burglars, too, fear the dark.
My girlfriend tells me I analyze things way too much... I told her to check /., people here do it for a living.

Smells like profit, man.
You could send a million letters. If the guy is recieving a million $$ in "donations", he ain't gonna listen to you any time this year.
Bitcoins, anyone?
With all the slashvertisements, and then the downfall of it, it's not mentionned in the list?
President of Wigeria, is that you?

Because the Mayan tablets said so? No wonder archaeologists got it wrong. It's the end of the handheld world as we knew it.
That's the whole point! It's stupidly out of place and just plain silly, but that's why it's just so unique.

They can't leave the square, or they will look like losers. The police can't let them hang around, or they will look like losers.....

I love how the first comment is witty and right.

If I had mod points, I would have rated you Informative.
But I don't, so here is me commenting about it instead.
