Is memory failing me, or is this the same Diablo 2 which got drastically worse with every segment,...I also recall the graphics getting worse and worse...
No the graphics got better and better. They went from 800/600 to 1024/768 with the expansion.
As for the game itself; I found that it was the most enjoyable with the expansion, not just due to the graphics improvement, but the items and locales really improved drastically.
The only thing I didn't feel added anything were the new character classes: Druid and Assassin? Riiiiiiiiiightttttt -> the Druid at least was a alternative to the necro which was nerfed at the time, but Assassin? Who the F needs to sneak up on Baal?
Can anyone tell me of any alternatives to Diablo/Blizzard games?
I mean I LOVE Diablo, but the original team split some 6 or 7 years ago and there have been plenty of knockoffs, but can anyone tell me about a recent game that has such a great play/replayability?
"Unity is 'a shell for GNOME, even if it isn't GNOME shell'"
Riiiiiiiiighhhhttttt... Why do people say things like that? It may be true, but it's like people in the community purposely try to make desktop Linux as confusing and unapproachable as possible.
The article states the this allows people to see where they have previously been blind. Obviously the speaker means that people cannot see in the dark and this gives them this ability. I wonder how this compares to standard night vision technology which sounds like it does the same or similar thing.
Has anyone else noticed the sharp drop off in comments on Slashdot the last couple months?
Yes the summer is always going to be slower, but wow, someone like Taco makes a statement like this and nothing. It is a desperate move. But why? Isn't that the real headline we are looking at?
FF7 was garbage and never came close to the hype that surrounded it. I played the "F" out of it though. Grinding needlessly through quests that never tied into anything in the overall storyline. Watching the endless boring & maudlin cut scenes, all with no payoff.
I remember feeling like a straight-up sucker for buying the game, but one positive thing that came out of the experience was that I found out how to upgrade and eventually build my own PCs out of a desire to improve the game's performance. Sadly this was an impossible task.
It is really a sad day when an announcement about this makes people (like me) so happy!
I mean it is just television. I hate that it is such a powerful force and know that annoying commercials are one of the few obvious reasons to get up and walk away from the TV during any hour long period of time.
Ignoring the fact the PVRs and TiVo have all but eliminated commercials in my own home, I have to wonder if this is somehow a bad thing for the 60% of people without a PVR. Does that kind of thinking make me a liberal elite?
They are too brainwashed to know that tax cuts for the rich do not help them at all.
The rest will see that increasing tax on the rich and reducing it for the middle or low wage worker as in insidious plot by "the Elites" to take away their chances of being super rich themselves.
...but what is it about Klingon language fan things that right away make me laugh?
Don't get me wrong - I like Star Trek and consider myself a fan, but damn this just screams "I am a dork, give me an atomic wedgie!"
Conversely, if someone were to say redo Ride of the Valkyries featuring costumes that were all inspired by Mandalorian Armor, I would consider that "mighty" and "badass".
I am an embezzler of some repute at a fairly well known tech company. I am getting lump sum payments from a supplier in regular payments. They insist on providing me the cash in shoe boxes but I can't think of anything "outside" of these that could be better. Advice?
I would compare it to Star Wars, really. It was an ambitious movie with a cliche plot, passable acting, and very impressive special effects. I enjoyed it in the theaters and now own it on blu-ray. It's not The Usual Suspects, by a long shot, but it is a satisfying movie in its own way.
Sad thing is that the hype of this movie has overshadowed the fact it wasn't that great. A movie like the Usual Suspects is a classic but the comparison is unfair. Its like comparing the recent War of the Worlds to Blue Velvet.
... some extremely bored rich guy with way too much money flushing $250,000+ down the toilet on trite, stupid shit like a comic book.
Your world view seems to be anti-capitalist and at the same time elitist in terms of what you would deem worthy, yet you are oblivious to the deep history of the creative process of comic book making. To say a piece of history like that found by this family is a waste of money is also short sighted considering that only a handful of copies in the condition mentioned exist.
The comic in question was revolutionary beyond the bounds of what was being published at the time. It ushered in a golden age of creativity (and knock-offs) that lasted decades. It was because of that era that we have flourishing business that thrives on creativity and imagination. What other industry can you say gives artists and writers such a vast and lush medium with which to have their work combined?

If they start now they ought to be done in time for the next solar storms.
Right, dungeon siege. You nailed it. There is nothing.

I remember when the closed beta of WoW came out and I got in on that. It was fantastic.
The time between that and the open wasn't that long... though I was still in my 20's when I started. I'VE WASTED HOW MANY YEARS OF MY LIFE NOW????

Who cares if Clinton or Putin didn't have access to the codes? At least half the planet would survive.
Obelisks, Sphinxes etc...

Like that's going to happen.

Unicycles, or worse tandem bicycles!

OK - but you aren't saying anything about that pinball game. Great name though!
But I think the best game ever had to be the Twilight Zone. It freaks me out just thinking about getting the "POWERBALL!".
The fact that they included the Addams Family as one of the games in this contest definitely makes it legitimate IMHO!
