The Chinese gov't is insanely powerful due to misguided patriotism.
Or Misguided in my point of view at least. However if I was a citizen of Shanghai or another wealthy city in China, it would fill me with a certain amount of pride to know that almost every economy on the planet depends on how well that country is doing,
The idea that people with economic prosperity will see their leaders as corrupt is like expecting U.S. citizens to be outraged over Gitmo
I hate toolbars of any kind. I can't even stand Google's (though I keep it running in the task tray just for the desktop search), but StumbleUpon's is so great. There is a satisfaction in using Stumble that I can only compare to my first experience with Netscape Navigator.
I hope Google doesn't cripple it in favor of its proprietary "thumbsup" feature.
Look at the stuxnet attack on Iran last month. If that country had a more developed nuke program a hostile neighbor (country X) could have had the opportunity to co-opt their systems and launch against Israel. Israel would immediately engage in a retaliatory strike and country X would be the winner (assuming they are anti Iran and at least neutral in their relations with Israel).
Country X in this case just became a nuclear power without ever facing embargoes, or hostility from the US.
I believe that would be the women in Europe who "leaked" information about their assaults by him.
He will stand trial and be convicted if there is truth to their claims
The question is who will convict the people in the governments that are being exposed as torturers, fraudsters, extortionists, and psychopathic behavior
given all the press and notoriety WikiLeaks is garnering of late - you have to imagine that there is more up their sleeves than boring old diplomatic dispatches to be handed out to the press!
Even if they are in talks with someone who has knowledge of conspiracies to cover up UFOs, Contact, etc... they would have the media in an immediate and unstoppable frenzy
It is the perception that the money terrorists have spent getting a super power riled up is hugely disproportionate to the after effects. Ignore direct costs of the 9/11 attacks and we ARE talking about astronomical amounts of money fighting phantoms.
Going to war against two different countries as a "security measure" is the real costs come from. There were many pro-war Americans at that time, but according to this article nations like the U.S. would need to fight the "War on Terror" completely covertly to keep the cost benefit motive away from future terrorists.
Conversely, the worst thing to do would be to ride around on the deck of an aircraft carrier (possibly the ultimate symbol of massive dollars spent) and declaring the war over when it had barely begun.
Rumack (Nielsen): You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.
Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack (Nielsen): It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.
Because there's never a reason that a passenger would want to take a phone call. Or for a driver to call 911 for any reason...
Sure and the reason they have to make the 911 call in the first place is because some stupid motherFer in front of them had been on the phone asking "Hey, what's Sally in accounts wearing today" and "Yes yes yes I'm almost there, NO! DO NOT tell me how Dancing with the Stars ended until I get to the water cooler with you girls..." causing him to demolish a family on their way to (insert activity of choice) practice.
Without "space gold" being identified as existing on Mars, no one is going to put up the funds to go there. Also there is no more slavery to do all the dirty work (like taking one way trips to friggin mars) and our current generation of robots are great but not able to colonize anything more than a crater
I have the previously marketed WinPhone; i.e. Windows Mobile 6.5. It was won in a contest by a friend. A bunch of contract fanagalling with the service provider and a $50 fee to unlock it and I was able to use it with my current provider. I was excited about a Microsoft product for the first time in years!
Then I learn that this thing is a dead end. I can't upgrade to WinPhone7. All mention of Windows Mobile 6.5 being touted as "WinPhone" disappears. I mean it was free (minus the $250 worth of contract fanagalling mentioned above) so who cares right?
But you know what - its been my favorite phone ever. I really like it. It does everything I need. If the Windows Phone 7 takes off and Microsoft manges to support it and not dump it like my phone's OS, then I may go to that next.
I would need to hear some really positive things to stop me from buying an Android out of spite though.
My point was not meant to imply that it is impossible to quantify the performance of graphics cards - rather that breathless statements like the following:
"Take synthetic tests like Uningine into account and the GTX580 can be up to twice as fast."
Does anyone assume that the synthetic benchmarks achieved by either AMD or NVIDIA are representative of anything more than these companies' efforts to tweak their driver sets against the pre-existing criteria for getting a "good score"?
Both companies I believe have been accused over the years of doing just that and pointing the finger at the other as taking part in shennaniganism"
I can just see Fox News anchors with actual quotes to back up their uninformed stances on on the issues they have chosen to rally behind... or more often against.
In any case the original poster (OP?) has since been modded, perhaps unfairly as a troll.
I completely disagree with him either way, but if you are right on all counts, he was off topic at best.
I wouldn't really call it "patriotism" if that were the only choice the government allowed.
To be fair I did say, "misguided".
I think you have a slight perception problem if you think people in China have no choice in supporting the current regime, though.
Its almost like you are only being informed of what your government wants you to know
Woops - I got suckered by that too! According to Wikipedia, Google was in planning a purchase but it was eBay who scooped them up.

StumbleUpon is the best.

Splitting hairs = splitting the atom?

If there is life swimming in a big ocean under the ice of Europa, the question becomes: how does it taste?
For some reason I have to read the above (and the subject line) with a Dr. Zoidberg voice!

Ah we'll miss him.
obviously/P
OK I'll say it, since no one else has:
Mod "parent" up.

The official US Gov't statement will still be that its people flying to Hawaii and not a drone.
What do you think the point of colonization is?
I think the point of colonization at least in Earthman history has always been, [wait for it], profit.
Maybe if Richard Branson suddenly becomes some type of superhuman ala the singularity, before anyone else then we could have a chance.
... misses the point of colonization?

The obvious problem is that the word synthetic is not followed by an asterisk, as if these results are as valid as any other.
Instead it is nefariously followed by a claim of doubling the competition's top benchmarks. Nefariously I say!!!
My point was not meant to imply that it is impossible to quantify the performance of graphics cards - rather that breathless statements like the following:

I no longer have to scroll through millions of replies on Answers.com as to whether or not my list of symptoms constitutes space herpes or not.
This might not be so bad.

I stand corrected.
