  1. You're actually the exception here on Ask Slashdot: Are You Streaming-Only For Home Entertainment? · · Score: 1

I'm pretty sure no one on Slashdot actually PAYS for old media; We've all likely set up a crappy HTPC for streaming &/or a NAS box for things obtained by "other means".

  2. How is this news on Dollar Apps Killing Traditional Gaming? · · Score: 1

We already had this same article with NOA CEO Reggie Fils-Aime bitching about the same thing despite the fact that they're absorbing the same behavior with the Shop Channel, which BTW, makes buying World of Goo easy & cheaper (on both ends) instead of driving to an archaic dying store to get a hardcopy for 2-5x the price. Random Rant: I think Sony has something here w/ the PSP phone. I think Nintendo should develop an android handset of their own, but with a patented APU so it'd still technically be their platform, & they can still be archaic if they want & keep a DS slot on it if they can't spare the 200MiB/Game.

  4. Speak for yourself on Why Does the US Cling To Imperial Measurements? · · Score: 1

Just because my 'government' thinks it's a good idea doesn't mean I do, which is why all of my heaters, AC's, weather widgets, etc are set to Celsius. (My car, on the other hand, is another story entirely...)

  8. It wouldn't work on Why Google Should Buy the Music Industry · · Score: 1

It would get caught up in antitrust suits faster that you can say 'It'll be caught up in antitrust suits', & I'm pretty sure someone would shot in the whole mess too. Don't worry, it's not like they where sticking around anyways; it won't be long now! 3

  10. I'm really getting sick of this. on Firefox 5 In Aurora Channel · · Score: 0

When did Alpha seize to be the development channel & Beta seize to be the bug-tracking channel!? It's like every fucking project I come across has all of this backwards! Like Ubuntu! Everyone KNOWS 11.04 wasn't stable enough when it hit Beta, but they didn't swallow their pride & knock back the beta date & surely it pissed alot of people off! Cyanogenmod releases it's beta-quality builds as release candidates, & will completely change or add entire features during the RC phase!

So we're going to take parts of wildlife apart to clean the environment we destroyed to save the wildlife? Interesting... I'm a little curious how they'll COLLECT the shells. Are we going to buy the byproducts of a factory that produces frozen pre-made seafood?

  13. Human overclocking? on Temporary Brain Changes Lead to Accelerated Learning · · Score: 2

  14. Re:Okay seriously what the fuck. on The Hobbit Filming at 48fps · · Score: 1

Actually they don't even try at all when it's that close; they just speed it up a little, butchering the pitch. This is very evident if you go from watching NTSC cartoons to PAL, or vice versa. This is also why you can't sync Dark Side of The Moon to PAL copies of The Wizard of Oz.

  15. Okay seriously what the fuck. on The Hobbit Filming at 48fps · · Score: 1

WHY IS IT NOT 60FPS. Seriously even 40 would be better than 48, cause then it'd be easier to sync at 60! I don't think ANYONE cares about the fact it's 2x the framerate of an archaic format! (& you're hearing this from a FILM collector! I literally have a closet filled with 16mm reels!)

  16. You hear that? on Old Media Says Google Will Destroy Film & Music · · Score: 0

  17. So THAT'S where my sperm went! on Merck's Drug Propecia Linked To Sexual Dysfunction · · Score: 1

I don't exactly find this surprising; A crappy pill that likely targets Didydrotestosterone causing damage to organs producing testosterone? You'd think they would have thought to take sperm samples or check the blood for the stuff or something...

  18. So? on Threatening YouTube Video Lands Man In Prison · · Score: 2
