    It wasn't exactly an IIS exploit, it was the Index Server plugin for IIS exploit.

    Open-source doesn't necessarily mean free of charge. You CAN sell open source software.

    Its true that cars aren't free of patents and trademarks, but that doesn't stop people from modifying them. Also, open-source software can include patented code, as long as its licensed properly.

    Well they are making money on others work and why not? If some programmers want to give away software for free, that's their problem. With Open Source software, I don't have to work three months on a project. Their's always someone who's done a similar project in Open Source, so I take the code, customize it for my employers needs and voilà it's done in a week and I take all the credit and the money for it.

    And why not? RedHat are great at marketing, although it's not my distribution of choice, it sure as hell is my favorite Linux company. RedHat is the best at making you pay for something you can get for free.

    the multiple logins feature, integrated CD burning, Hibernation, multilingual support, mediaplayer 8, IE6, system restore, remote assistance, etc. All good reasons for the average user to upgrade.

    Look, I don't care, I use Windows for my day to day tasks and I use Linux to learn about computers, so I can be closer to my machine. Windows is great, I don't see why we should boycott it. It's nice to see that now we can choose which OS we want to use and I don't want anyone to tell me which one I should use.

    well I don't need Real or Java. I think they should ship the goodies on a different CD. Once you install Windows, you can slide the Goodies CD in the CD Drive and install everything you need.

    I don't think you used Windows XP, maybe you should visit msdn.microsoft.com. We sometimes have to use Media Player so we can download from the intranet the interview the VP gave.

    If you're using Win2k, you're not encouraged to upgrade. Sure Windows XP makes it easier for the support people to connect to another machine and fix it but you can use WinVNC instead.
