Jaun's comments are great and he weaves in great historical perspective.
Only thing that worries me is that there isn't more commenting and reporting like his. The majority of reporting and analysis should be like that not the 1% we have to dig for in cyberspace.
This is why I think they should go to consumers being able to buy a "license" to any digital media and not even worry about putting CD's in stores or DVD's or software. Let me buy a license to it and I always have a right to torrent it and have it.
Then have the company provide it on their servers and torrents help with the bandwidth.
It could be cheaper because they don't have to create or distribute the media to hold this on, also we can easily be legal and prove legality to what we have on our systems, it wouldn't wear out, and I know this is a novel concept but it would be giving the consumer what they want and they may actually stop hating the industry so much.

Hand outs to pretty much every country that gets them from the U.S. have gone up under Bush.
Not sure if we can call the 200 billion spent in Iraq so far a handout, but at least some of it is intended to be.
It is odd because Conservatives use to want smaller cheaper government, and with how many people today I see liking a Libertarian slant to the way things are run, how can any of them still support Bush? He spends and increases the size of government like a socialist, but simply doesn't say he is going to provide any more gov't services and will not increase taxes.
Maybe it was the U.S. sabotaging something Kim was near. It seems likely that the train explosion, which occurred I believe not long after Kim went by the area was likely that.
No proof of this whatsoever but seems likely enough. Having it look like North Korea accidently blew up their own leader would make a better headline for this administration than Kim setting off nukes.
I agree. I don't know if I can sit through any more of Angelina Jolie with a phony British accent. She is bad enough in her native tounge without that making it even worse.
All the money shows are making it sound like the Dutch auction was some whacked out failure. I say it worked great. The big Wal Street Firms didn't get to skim off it, looting the individual investor out of gains and and the people who bid got a good price.
If they want to pass a good bill it should be to stop naming of bills like "The Patriot Act", I mean these people in congress are suppose to be logical thinking adults. All naming bills like this will lead to is more nonsense getting stuffed in them like this.
I would like to know who the genius was who came up with that name to begin with?
I can see how the naming submissions probably went -
Repug's names: "Patriot Act" "I am for America Act" "Good for the Coutnry Act"
Dem's: "Ashcroft will Screw You with this Act" "More Power to Spy on Everyone Act" "Give up your Civil Liberties Act"
How come they didn't put some of those NASCAR windshield type plastic overlays on the solar panels they could just peel off after a couple of months to keep the panels clean?
Seems like it is doing pretty well without doing that but I wonder if they thought about doing something like.
Visual Basics PictureBox and Image control cannot display.png's. If they did it would be a lot easier for us to use.png's in Open Source VB programs. If gif is freed up it helps us in this area, unless of course you know where to get a free or open source control for VB that display's.png's.
To get any of them to actually fix their own bugs, it turns into something resembling a negotiation with terrorists. You first have to explain to them why you want that bugs fixed, why you can't possibly live with their function returning the wrong result, listen to their view of why it's OK, listen to their grandious view of their architecture and why it shouldn't be changed (even if it returns the wrong result or crashes), etc.
I think you must work with the same people I do.
This problem is so common I wish they could diagnose it and provide counseling for the people to correct it.
Its because women are much more likely to go jump back in the car and get a nice static charge built up with their seat then jump back out when the fueling is done.
Men are much more likely to stand outside their car smelling the vapors and checking out the cute ladies, at least until the ladies get peeved and jump back in their cars.
So who is to blame the googling men or the seat jumping ladies...
The interesting thing about IBM being the one to do this is they are the ones, their consultants anyways are the ones toughting to American companies how they can save 15% on their total IT spend from outsourcing.
Then they go and buy the outsource, thats rich. I can't blame IBM though, just the moronic VP's and CEO's that buy into this magic Indian box that produces all there code for free for them.
Don't forget that quality has also dropped noticeably. We're paying more for more channels, not more good programs.
I would trade them all in for one good news channel. Yes one channel. One that actually helps educate on what is going on and not entertain with what people want to see.
Yes, it also may be better just to put a bunch of small comets and asteroids into the current moon there. Increase its mass that way.
If you had a tremendous amount of comets and asteroids all tracked with extreme precision you could simply put into the computer what is the smallest nudge needed to apply to each to get it to hit approprately Mars moon. Of course we cannot even get close to the accuracy this data would need today. Someday maybe.
My theory on this is that Mars while forming, formed much like Earth. You had all this material coming together and churning, much more valcanic activity and that means more gas released into the atmosphere. This keeps things warmed up with not only more gas in the atmosphere but lots of kicked up particles from Valcano's allowing it to trap more heat.
But... time goes by and the great mashing together of all the bits finally cools and the engines driving the valcano's on mars go cold. Plate techtonics cease, if there ever were any.
Why does Earth still work? The moon.
Mars does not have a nice sized moon like Earth that keeps the stress on the planet and thus those fires keep churning and the valcano's keep firing. This may not always be the case, future computer modeling may tell us what might be in store for us.
A nice thing with this theory is that Pluto actually happens to be in relation to Mars close to what the Moon is in size to relation of the Earths size.
So I think once computer models get good enough (to make sure we don't destroy ourselves in the process), once one figures out how to slow over time the speed of Pluto around the Sun and bring it down to Mars orbit, we could potentially get those fires going again and it would create an atmosphere that would be thicker, if not even close to Earths. Like I said though, extreme computer modeling of the various scenarios would be needed to see how this might work out.

I think where some are misguided here is thinking the Judeo-Christian-Muslim model is that there is this giant universe and God exists in a little part of it.
That is a very wrong interpretation. The model at least as Islam is concerned is God created _all_ that exists, the whole universe, from what is observable to what is not observable i.e. soul, angels, etc.
