my 2 cents: I bought a Pismo 2 years ago for around $2200 US but did not go for the AppleCare. Like any well-used laptop it's gotten its share of problems. Right now it's sitting, unused in my bedroom because (A)the battery holds a charge for all like 45 minutes now (B)the power adaptor came loose from the constant wear and tear of plugging it in to charge (C)the DVD drive is the known defective 8x one that won't mount a disk but about 1 in 10 tries. Repairs would easily cost $600-800 for those from Apple. *

My Sawtooth G4 has worked, flawlessly, for about 4 years. No problems at all, but then again it just sits on my floor.

I would say buy the AppleCare if you have a laptop. A year or two down the road when your battery is dead, or the optical drive is funky, and the screen has the keymarks on it, and etc the $300 AppleCare can easily fix those.

(* Maybe it's not too late to get AppleCare? I doubt it. :( )

I found this interesting. Imagine a spacecraft going through the solar system over the course of hundreds of years without really having to use fuel.

Want to hear about how I came up with that? My girlfriend's friend + boyfriend came over, and my girlfriend and her friend got high. Then I think her boyfriend got a BJ in my bathroom after. She was like screaming about his enormous penis while we sat on my couch. Wacky. She will so regret that tomorrow.

We played Gamecube and listened to old hip-hop and and a Screw tape I have. And ate some pizza.

Then they went home, and my girlfriend and I fucked. I even got hard and fucked her again after I came. The I ate her out (I love it!), and then she fell asleep after orgasming. Cool!!

So I went and smoked the roaches while taking a hot bubble bath, got a good feeling in my neck, and pigged out on some chips and macaroni salad. The I listened to some Apoptygma Berzerk while reading this article.

And that's when I thought about a spacecraft going through the solar system over the course of hundreds of years without really having to use fuel. But, it's listening to Apoptygma Berzerk - Electricity.

Time to go brush my teeth and go to bed. Bed with my girlfriend, and wake up with my boner pressing into her butt and I can cuddle with her. She's cool! She so doesn't mind when I wake her up like that! She's hot! She's into UNIX and PHP too!

Check out Backfire. Sadly, it hasn't been updated in ~2 years though. The idea of that project is to encapsulate the data as movie frames, so it should be possible.

If you search on google around the Groups, this topic appears a few times. I don't know of anyone who has gotten it to work though, and for as many people who question the integrity of data stored on a DV camera, there's just as many who think it would work fine. Maybe if the data was compressed with some sort of error checking/correction beforehand..

It takes the traditional UNIX idea of "Everything is a file" to the next level. If you think its the next step, then why is "traditional" Unix stale when its ideas are still being used?
