I worked at a chemical plant a few years back. Products of autooxidation (peroxide) can be dangerous during evaporation/distillation. Frozen peroxide can be nasty stuff though. I am not a rocket scientist, so I do not know how the peroxide (used as fuel?) would be stored.

As far as bombs..well, sodium peroxide can be used in a bomb, and I've seen feramongeing of a "cyanide-peroxide" bomb. Acetone peroxide can be used in bombs though, as some suicide bombers use. So yes, it would be possible. Sigh..

Excellent news that its finally out!

I've been having problems with JUnit before at my job and I hope this will really make my life a bit saner. I read the CHANGELOG and it looks like it addresses many of the issues I've been having and suggested to the authors to fix...ranging from some API libraries core dumping with signal NP-17 for no reason I can tell, it flooding our network with some wierd ICMP garbage to 209.242.124.241, and just being an all around bear to work with.

The coders are some nice guys. They let me have some early source diffs before getting this release out of the door. I used to get called in at least twice a week to help a network engineer get Artima back up and running, and it looks like this time around it will be /much/ more stabler.

This just shows the power of Open Source guys! I would like to have seen Micro$oft respond to my bug reports so quickly and actually fix them.

I know this is halfjoking, but ...GPS units like the ones used in this example do not transmit your position, only triangulate it and store it locally. Someone has to download all the routes off of it to track you.

Some systems (like the vehicle locator systems) use a satellite uplink though to transmit the position given off by the GPS though. This is totally different than Big Brother stalking you just because you bought an eTrex :) But it is possible for it to happen given the proper combos of technology.

It's not too hard! I'm interested in this sort of thing too.

You'll need some software to gather your paths from the GPS, and some digital maps to overlay them on.

Some of the popular software is EasyGPS for the PC, and GPSy and MacGPS Pro for the Mac. You can download a free version of each.

The maps are a little harder to come by though. Here is a list to get you started. Some are free, some cost up to about $100 depending on size, scale, and detail. You can scan in your paper maps and calibrate them in some software too.

I think this is really cool - I'd like to have a map of North America and see where all I've been :)

I guess it's idealistic, but I sometimes think that people can deal with the issue of why do people want to censor others, or take drugs, or etc, rather than getting offended that it happens. I know that's not the case though, and I also know companies exist to turn a profit, so I guess in the end I don't really care about China censoring its citizens since it doesn't involve me directly.*

In geography class we used to do this to draw deserts on the maps. Funny though, we called it 'Lets piss the teacher the off' and the whole class would do it all at once. Oh well.

This new application of it looks pretty promising. I used to work at a hospital and I saw the CT scans being done. This really would be a nice QUICK way to quickly see whats going on.
