Even if the hibernation would work perfectly, you've got a dozen applications that use constant internet connections, those are not there after resume and apps start to act funny.
Maybe I am just lucky, but I don't have any problem with this either. I frequently change the network I'm wired to while the machine is hibernated and I don't have problems resuming. I also use wireless a fair bit and don't have problems with that either. I'm not running servers on anything on it though.

It's human nature. Being fired is an implied indictment on your abilities and naturally people take that personally. People are also often adverse to change (especially change forced on them) and uncertainty. And if you've got a family and financial obligations it can be a major problem, one that from your point of view has been inflicted on you for little or no reason.

What constitutes a "significant" atmosphere? What does "mostly gas" actually mean? (i.e. what separates "planet" from "gas giant"?) Do you really want to be changing moons to planets as new facts about their atmosphere are discovered?

I used to use the sleep feature on my Win laptop (used to travel around and install and configure routers and such) and it's fine for a few awakenings but you can't keep a bunch of apps loaded without the system being buggy. I eventually would reboot in the morning and load the essential before venturing out and do it daily. Daily reboots that is.

Right. You'll stop being asked to moderate well before you lose enough karma to affect your posting bonus, so why should negative karma from m2 reduce your desire to moderate? Wouldn't it be better to continue to moderate normally until you stop getting mod points?
like all community based moderation systems, both meta moderation and regular moderation primarily function as a means to draw the most commonly held beliefs of the community to the surface, while burrying less common beliefs.
Of course. All communities tend towards "thinking alike". They wouldn't stay together as communities if it were otherwise. I don't think the "group think" that people occasionally complain about is really that bad here, and certainly a wide range of opinions are moderated up, even within contentious topics.

Classifications should also have scientific value. What's the scientific value of classifying something as a dwarf planet vs classifying it as a planet?
Can you really not see how the new definitions of planet and dwarf planet are more precise and useful than the previous adhoc definition? They may not be a precise or useful as they could be, but they are a clear improvement.
