Firefox 8 is still pretty far from release. I wonder if it will get even faster as they continue to make improvements, or slower as they realize the speed came from bugs.
I meant the *same* bonus bands that were in the first two Guitar Hero games:
Anarchy Club Count Zero Freezepop Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives
All of them were in the first two Guitar Hero games, and none of them are in Guitar Hero 3. Count Zero is the only one that's _not_ on the Rock Band disc, and they still got a track in through the Official Xbox Magazine.
And yes, I *know* it's because Rock Band was made by Harmonix and GH3 was made by Neversoft, and I'd say Rock Band has a huge advantage simply because it was made by people who make music games (and music - employees are in a lot of the bonus bands), not people who make skateboarding games.
One of the reasons I bought Rock Band and skipped Guitar Hero 3 was that GH3 didn't include the "bonus" bands that the first two games introduced me to, and Rock Band did. Anarchy Club and Freezepop FTW!
The Globe's article is also nice enough to point out that HMV's lower prices still aren't really "low":
Whether it will be enough to change listening habits is another matter. It still often costs about half the price to buy the music online. For instance, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours costs $19.99 now at HMV, down from $24.99, but only $7.92 on iTunes. David Bowie's Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust? Now $19.99 at HMV, but only $10.89 on iTunes.
I'm pretty sure I read a while ago that one of the differences between HD DVD and BluRay is that this managed copy stuff is mandatory for HD DVD and optional for BluRay. If it's mandatory for HD DVD, and HD DVDs are already shipping, why are licensing agreements still being worked on? Shouldn't that all have been sorted out by now?
The Child's Play site isn't slashdotted yet. That means either a) they've got a really good server, or b) Slashdot readers are a bunch of cheapskates who don't care about charity. I know what my vote is...
I've heard the Express Editions will be a free download, and the $49 boxed versions will come with a book or CD with training stuff to make the package (theoretically) worth the money.
I wonder if this thing can do black that actually looks black, or if it just gets the high contrast ratio by being able to produce whites brighter than the sun?
I wondered how that got in the post without even a "sic", but then this bit outside of the quote made it all clear: "regarding its past as an honorable games-maker and it's current reputation."
Don't know the diffence between "its" and "it's"? Use both!
Metroid is an unlockable on Metroid: Zero Mission (and Metroid Prime on the Cube), and Dr. Mario is unlockable on WarioWare, Inc. as "Dr. Wario". And Nintendo expects people to pay $19.99 for the old games on their own? They really ought to be releasing these "classics" in compilations, not one game to a cartrige.
That is, if the "progress of sciences and useful arts" no longer depends on intellectual "property", then there is no need for this legal entity.
I know you were trying to be concise, but would you mind explaining why you believe that the progress of sciences and arts no longer depends on intellectual property? I don't quite see it.
Also, remember that, as the parent said, the GPL depends on copyright. Do you think open source software would get along just as well if licences like the GPL weren't enforcable because copyright didn't exist?
If Nintendo was smart they would bundle the new Zelda with the Game Cube. I'm sure a lot of people would by the System.
They bundled the Zelda Collector's Disc with the Cube for the holidays. That had Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and a demo of Wind Waker.
"I watch what they play and I decide what they play."
If the rest of the parents in the US were like him, legislation wouldn't be necessary to keep nasty games away from kids. Unfortunately, lots of parents are lazy and/or stupid, and they need the government to do what they can't be bothered with.
No need to hope for EFC to be cancelled. This *is* the last season. The show was meant to run for 5 years, and, guess what? This is the fifth year. The EFC site even has a trailer for this season that says it's the last one.

Like the Freezepop song in Phaze says, "Pop music is not a crime".

No, no, NO. The biggest complaint about GH2 was TOO MUCH METAL. Are you trying to wreck the game?
They're going to need a better plan than that, or they might end up reverse splitting until there's only one share left.
A "completely unlikely" shortcut for Slashdot would have to involve the Windows key.
I think that's got more to do with Catholics not believing in using contraception.
Claiming eventual Linux support is just an easy way to increase the chances of an application getting a /. post.
Actually, the rerating was also because they underestimated the violence level in the game. I'm pretty sure that's the same in both versions.

From the statement in the article, it sounds like they're just discontinuing the 3.20Ghz, socket 478 version of the chip, not the whole P4 EE line.

Metroid II is a Game Boy game. Congratulations, you got a Slashdot editor to post proof that you're an idiot!

He's saying he didn't write that. It's just how people interpreted what he wrote.

My copy of Slomotion doesn't have any protection on either CD, but the Watchmen are Canadian, so maybe they're just doing it to you American jerks :P
