Worse would be the cell phone company's charges. The minutes would certianly be billed under a time 'roaming' plan. But worse, they would be instantly overdue, and with interest and late fees accumulating, a 300 year trip to the past with a quick call to brag about your journey would bankrupt the poor traveler.
Wow about having him (start to) show it off at WWDC? No introduction, just have him walk on stage and announce "Hi, I'm Gray Powell and I would like to introduce you to the new iPhone..."
You can always use your bluetooth enabled cell phone or pda, combined with "Salling Clicker" or "Romeo". Requires you be within bluetooth range of the laptop, but very slick products. Both ship with scripts for itunes.
No, I got my iPod for running. The first few weeks ran with it held in my hand, and have yet to have a problem. Prior to this, I ran with a portable CD player that advertised skip protection. The CD player I could make skip, something I haven't yet been able to do with the iPod.
Last week, I broke down and bought one of them fancy fanny packs designed for the pod. Running with that is a dream, you could forget the ipod is there if not for the headphones (and this is where you really appreciate the wired remote.)
Could be my incredibly smooth running style, but I doubt it. The iPod is great for runners.
No, the end result will simply be that only established companies, those with extensive catalogues of patents to cross-share, will be allowed to do any sort of business. Little guys and startups will find themselves shutout of every common sense business practice simply becasue someone else got there first.
Really? Then do it. Go to ebay.com, search for your model 'on completed auctions" (or whatever). This should give you an idea of what like machines are selling for. Take a $100 off that price (but hope you get lucky) and *now* decide: if I could sell for this price, would I?
Extra credit: Look up the 'completed auction' price of recent 6100 and 8100s. Wait for this offer to be extended to the US, watch for jump in price.
One of the things incidents.org points out (http://www.incidents.org/diary/diary.php?id=156) is that some microsoft products have sql server included as a hidden or optional install. Access 2000, Visio, even Visual Studio 6 had an option for installing MSDE. If installed, no password is set for the account.
I can't speak for others, but I like to root for the little guy. I figure the big corps got enough momentum going for them, nice to see #2 make a few correct steps once in a while.
An ever better film was Silent Running. Starred Bruce Dern as a caretaker of the last remaining plants of earth (apparently no longer required on earth). Cute robots, nice 70's message.
The revealing of Hanssen as a spy was done with great florish: a large raid, the FBI announcing how damaging Hanssen's revealations may have been, etc. All this despite the embarrassment having a spy within the agency is.
Is the FBI experiencing a period of being more open and honest?
Or is Hanssen being used as another example of why encryption is bad, carnivore is good, the FBI needs more powers to peep?
I think one of the main reasons the vegas lines were touted so heavily was that they provide some assurance that the games aren't 'fixed'. Vince asked the odds-makers to publish the lines (an interview on NPR mentioned that the amount you could bet was being limited until the league establishes itself) to provide the aura of legitimacy to the operation.
You can't bet on Professional wrestling. Not through a recognized odds-maker at least.

I spent the last year listening to language podcasts (especially 'coffee break spanish') on my commute. That seemed to work well.
If you have a stop-lost on your account, you automatically sell at a certain low stock price.
Prehaps the free song of the day counts?

Our hash group uses it as a game. After the hare leaves, all guess the distance that will be run, closest wins a down-down.
Another, if not better, resource can be found at www.half-mind.com.
I agree, a lot of geeks in this non-competitive 'drinking club with a running problem.'

Tragically Hip had one or two albums for sale in the first week. I bought one of them. But now no albums by the Hip are currently offered.

Ya think?
How would this differ from going to Start->Search->On the Internet, much like you can do right now.
If they're search isn't better than the competion's, they aren't going anywhere near number #1.

"Tell them to mark any and all AOL mail "RETURN TO SENDER" and AOL will bear even greater costs, at no cost to the consumer"
Bulk mail is not returned to sender. You are simply creating more work for the postal workers.

It has, the 25th Anniversary Mac (available in limited quanities) had an all in one form factor.

If nothing else, it keeps the marketplace honest.
Sorry if you've got a problem with that.
Great, they should have no trouble finding cell phone conversations using such key words as 'bombing', 'terrorist', 'osadin bin ladam' etc.
Makes sense. You can always go with that *other* cable internet access provider,
right?
