Every major studio except Universal plans to release Blu-ray DVD's, while Toshiba has commitments from only Universal, Warner Brothers and Paramount.
Blue Ray has a lot more content than HD-DVD. Now that Apple is basically in bed with Disney, both staunch allies of Blue Ray, the said campl will really have to fuck up for HD-DVD to win. Microsoft and HP do not control content. Heck, MS wants to optionaly add an HD-DVD to XBox-360. Not a strong endorsement.
Actually, it was IBM. My ex-Partner was on the OS/2 PM team in Boca. Someone at IBM insisted on type-ahead support resulting in this brain dead design. MS was actually against the designed. IBM then defined the well-behaved application rule which states that a PM application should take no longer than 1/10th of a second to process a message. Nobody did and the results were pretty awful.
IBM had a good chance at fixing in with 2.0 but wanted to maintain compatibility with few apps that might have broke. There weren't many OS/2 PM apps so there really was no reason for IBM to insist on that.
I developed for OS/2 for about 7 years. Yes the kernel had threads and a solid multitasking support but the flawed design of Presentation Manager (PM) caused a single rogue app to lock up the desktop and making it useless. The single message queue that IBM designed in PM, was one of the worst technical design decisions ever made. There added many workarounds to kill rogue apps but the results were pretty unreliable.
I believe that Microsoft will launch a mobile device that will serve as a mobile phone and a media device. They have the mobile OS, the media software. All they will need is a killer design and an Itunes like website.
The power Macs but could never justify the price/performance ratio. Now I can ith the new Intel chips. A Unix based OS with a great GUI running on fast Intel hardware makes me a convert. I develop Java apps for a living so it really makes no difference to me as to what OS I use for development.
There are many phones that will suit your need. They are pretty cheap too. phonescoop.com and gsmarena.com have a lot of phone choices that will meet your needs. You are not Apple's target. There are many of us that would just love the combination that you hate. I am hoping that we are the market for such devices. Looking forward for such a device.
I would have to say that Eclipse is one of the most important open source projects out there. Thousands of developers use the Eclipse IDE for day to day developement of enterprise Java applications.
I agree it does sound fishy. The same thing happened to me while travelling in a middle eastern country that shall remain nameless. I handed the phone to the family car driver to get a local SIM card (GSM). The vendor kept my US SIM and gave me a new local SIM card. When I go back home to the US, there was about $400 worth of charges on my Cingular bill. I tried to fight it but ended up paying. It was my fault. I should never have let my phone/SIM out of my sight.
Whether HP supported Blue-Ray or HD. IT DOES NOT MATTER. The only ones that matter are the content providers. Those have voted for Blue ray exclusively or vowed to support both format. So, HP and MS really do not matter when it comes to this fight. It is over and Blue Ray has won because of the studios.
The fact of the matter is that C# will never be able to erode Java's dominance since it is not cross platform. Don't sell me on the Mono project. It is still a little toy. For the.NET platform to be a true competitor, MS will have to port it to all Java supported platforms. Not very likely. Most projects that we work with are written in Java and Run on various platforms. No amount of.NOT will ever touch that.
You must not have learned about Soft and Weak references in Java. The VM does most of the work that you would need to do in C++. In Java, implementing caches is pretty trivial in comparison to C or C++.
hates these desktop toolbars. I don't care whether it is google, yahoo or MS's piece of crap, these are very overhyped and underused programs. Desktop search. Kiss my ass.
I use Cingular and my experience with the service has been very good. I have a quad band GSM phone and they agreed to unlock it with a simple email. Turnaround time was 24 hours. Dump Verizon. I did.
They are called Vendor Supplied device drivers.

I miss the user group meetings with my Amiga and Comodore buddies. Thank god I now have something to do.

Consumers will determine if the 2.50 is a lot of money for a song. Many consumers decided that forking $2+ for a ringtone was well worth it.
It's certainly less than the 571 meg download of the Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee movie. Which one is more 'useful' is up for debate.

I think they will sell one or two to the families of the engineers that come up with this garbage.
Javascript AJAX? Or is this Google's push of Java to the desktop?
The email left Microsoft's recuiter's link http://www.appointmentquest.com/provider/201022492 7
I signed up for an appointment with Leslie O'Connor. Hope she is a hottie.

Can these .NET guys come up with anything original? They stole the language and now the tools!!!
Most development effort is in the business space. Java ate C++ and everyone else's lunch in that space.
2020. Good luck getting all the stuff in. Long live open standards.
we will be forced to use voogle.com
