I think you missed the point you can have a tax break to bring workers into the area to help small businesses or a cafeteria that competes with those businesses but you can't have both.
I didn't get my first cell phone until I was in my 20s and it wasn't even close to a smart phone. My parents still somehow knew when I was out getting into trouble and I have never relied on a cell phone to let me keep track of my kids as a matter of fact they didn't get a smart phone until they paid for it themselves.
France doesn't make the top ten list for countries with the best educational systems, but removing distraction from the classroom isn't a bad idea. Addictive behavior is studied in health class, but schools are not treatment facilities.
I wouldn't mind seeing this implemented in the US but it doesn't need to be many schools don't allow cell phones in class already. I know they don't here and when my son complained about it I told him there was no valid reasons for him to have access to his phone in class because all he would be doing is reading/posting on facebook.
I have a colleague in California that commutes an hour one way because living closer to our office there would just cost to much. He get's paid more than I do but not enough to make up for the difference in the cost of living. He's started talking about asking the company to transfer him out to the mid-west hoping they would let him keep his current salary.
You are incorrect. Companies intentionally move jobs to lower cost of living areas so that they can pay employees less. This is especially pronounced in older companies that have offices scattered across the US. I could feel underpaid because I know my counter parts in California are paid more than me but honestly I get paid good money for the area I live in. The company can save money, and still pay me more based on the local cost of living. Those people in high cost of living areas like California are struggling because of competition from other states.
You have no idea how many people there are out there that have let their AV expired and never get updates until something like the Blaster worm hits. Given the chance to decide whether to let the updates reboot the pc or postpone it indefinitely many will just postpone it forever.
Don't make me put you in a time out! The seat flips backwards and the kid slides into the trunk.
When my kids where young and we went on long trips the kids would argue constantly. My wife would make me drive since I was much better at ignoring them and so she could have a hand free.
This is exactly it and when I was in college I managed a convenience store I already knew this, no one had to research it they could have just asked the businesses. They have been keeping records of trends like this for years so they could make sure they had enough people staffed and stock ready. They already have names for these peak times Dinner and Bar Rush.
I hope no one paid for this study. On the internet doesn't change the behavior it just makes it easier which isn't an unexpected result either.
You forgot the last option Microsoft embraces it and helps them make it a stable yet neutered operating system with enough features missing that no one is really interested and then Microsoft uses it like tool for live booting discs instead of a full operating system. Followed by a media campaign on how they support open source.
There are so many open source libraries under not just open source but also proprietary applications and I find it hard to believe that your company runs none, remember Java is GNU GPL.
That being said there doesn't need to be a legitimate need for something all it needs is enough interest to stay alive. I have been watching this project for years and would love to see it become stable just because I find it interesting and I have even considered contributing to it. I would like to put it on some old hardware just to play with and if it becomes popular enough and receives regular updates and patches I might even use it.
Copyright that is 95 years from the first publication in the case of a corporation that contracts that work. I think that should have a requirement that it's still being published or if it's not published for a certain amount of time then it should fall into the public domain.
Nintendo does have the SNES & NES Classic Edition so I'm not surprised they are trying to protect their copyrights.
I think them releasing those are a direct response to retro pi and the raspberry pi cases and usb controller that look like the SNES & NES. After you purchase the pi the case and some controllers put retro pi on it and download some roms you're paying about the same as you would for an SNES or a NES Classic Edition.
The ones here probably have heaters to melt the snow and ice but I know that we have crews out to clean them once a year because of dust anyway. They replaced some that didn't appear to seal well the light covers where always foggy looking and it was hard to see which light was illuminated in the middle of the day and some in new areas that all appear to be LED. The new traffic lights are much brighter day and night and appear to be made up of many LEDs.
I have not heard anything about the LED stop lights having trouble with snow cover. We have some new stop lights that appear to be LED they have hoods over the light to keep snow from gathering on the light. Snow could still collect under the hood on the light if it was windy enough but dust would be a larger issue in my area and incandescent bulbs wouldn't really help with that.
I don't find it surprising that people would be against change of any kind there are groups in my area that are against solar and wind power because of birds and solar panels are ugly. You can't have a windmill that powers a coy pond but my neighbor can have a decorative windmill the same size.
They all appear the same to me they have a search box with the company logo/name above or to the left of it the search button to the right or below. When you search the results show up from top to bottom. Though some have garbage all over their sites and some just the search feature.
The thing about being conservative is that it all comes down to, what are you trying to conserve? Conserve is one of those words that doesn't really stand on it's own, to protect something but what? We all know what it means to conserve and we each have our own view of what is important and needs to be protected. To simply call someone conservative says nothing except that there is something that they want to protect.
When people say autonomous car I think of all the times I've seen GPS glitch. If this is used in autonomous cars they could be turning early or late and hitting sidewalks, buildings, and pedestrians all the time.
I have noticed that when on amazon multiples of the same product with a different label on them. You know it's a bulk item they have ordered on the cheap and branded.
My brother owns a small skateboard company and buys his bulk branded items from the same manufactures that make the big label accessories.
You should worry about your data not because of the government or law enforcement but because of identity theft and fraud. We know that no system is absolutely secure and that the larger the data the more valuable it is and the bigger a target it is for those that would take advantage of it.
I haven't used notepad++ in years it was unstable when I tried it but I imagine that's probably not the case now.
Visual Studio Code is lightweight compared to Visual Studio 2017 maybe not notepad++ but the question is do you want intellisense for it's smart auto complete.
Yes where you make the collect call and instead of recording your name it's a rushed "I'm at... Come pick me up"
I think you missed the point you can have a tax break to bring workers into the area to help small businesses or a cafeteria that competes with those businesses but you can't have both.
I rarely see BSOD as well and usually when I do it's a hardware related issue not the operating system.

I've not quit a job, they all where sold, merged, or where outsourced.

I'll see your "software written by someone else" and raise you connects to the internet.

I wouldn't even want to guess at how many mug shots law enforcement has.
