Does anyone remember the old text adventure games? Especially those from Scott Adams. Adventure, Pirates Cove, Impossible Mission, Voodoo Castle, and The Count... These were the games that got me started in computers in the first place. I still have ROMS of them and still play them occasionally when I get time (which is almost never).
Those bring back memories... In Voodoo Castle, you come across a cast iron pot... If you type: "smoke pot" you get a response back "That's Illegal"...
The problem I've been having of late is that I build servers for some of my clients and I order various different parts from different online vendors. For example a SCSI hard drive from one vendor, while a SCSI RAID card from another which happens to have a lower price than the first vendor... After all, it's all about profit in the long run. The more I save now the more I make later.
Problem is some online vendors who show the item as "IN STOCK" will gladly take your order, and then a couple of days later cancel it because it's not in stock. No big deal, except that they don't notify you... No emails, no phone calls, no snail mail, no nothing. Worse yet, if they have an online status section on their page, it won't tell you "Cancelled" most of the time. It simply says "Pending" or "Shipping", or whatever... After a week or two, I finally realized I don't have all my parts and start checking what I ordered from where... Then I end up calling the vendor only to find out they cancelled the order.
Now, it's off to find another vendor with the item in stock and try again, but a few days or so have now been wasted.
This has happened now to me at least several times with several different online venodrs.
So the question remains, who do you (or can you) trust?
Just tell "Dubya" that IPV4 is being used by terrorists and we need
to upgrade to IPV6 to fight the "War on Terror"... He'll get congress
(opposite of progress) to approve $75B in no time.
Any domains registered there, will be investigated and if found to have invalid contact information the owner will be given a chance to correct it, or the domain will be taken away from them.
Here are a couple I heard while in High School computer math teacher (damn long time ago)...
A man lives on the 17th floor of a building. Each morning he gets up and rides the elevator down to the lobby and goes off to work. Every evening, he gets in the elevator in the lobby, rides up to the 11th floor and then walks up the last 6 floors to his apartment. Why?
Before you ask, it's not for exercise.
How about this one:
2 men standing on a hill, one points to the other and says:
"Brothers and sisters I have none, but that mans father is my fathers son".
GKG is the registrar I use... Their prices match (or sometimes even beat) GoDaddy's and their control panel is a hell of a lot better to use than GoDaddy's...
I've never liked GoDaddy's control panel, too cumbersome, but GKG's is nice and easy to use.
According to their site, they've been in business 13 years. Oh and it looks like they just added.us domains too! Cool!!! Time to transfer my final.us domains from GoDaddy to GKG.
This is old news... I read this news story in TV Guide about 3 weeks ago. Joss mentioned that he was looking at Charisma Carpenter to play the role. He said Sarah Michelle Gellar was too short.
Are there any that won't screw you over, on this and other issues?
I use GKG.NET as my registrar.
So far they have the lowest prices on registrations without pushing all the extra junk you don't need or want on you each time you register or renew a domain name.
Their control panel is very easy to use and their support is pretty damn good.
During the last few weeks of re-runs that would have been great.
In fact I didn't watch much TV during that time. Now we're down to the last 5 episodes of Angel...
I'm not missing that.
That during the hours of 8 to 5 (or whatever your hours are), she is an employee! Not your girlfriend. Same goes for any other family member. This is your business and they must abide by your rules. You'll have to separate friendship from business. I've done it. Hired my wife as a secretary for my software company.
I told her from the beginning, while there, I make the rules, and she follows them, otherwise there's the door. After hours (away from the office), things are normal.
My OS??? Well it's not my OS, I don't even run Linux. I run FreeBSD. I was merely pointing out the fact that the 2 links you provided were pointing incorrectly. Clicking on the one for Windows XP did take me to the Windows XP site as you had stated. But clicking on the Linux link you provided, simply took me to Windows (ALL) information, not Linux. I'm sure that was just an honest mistake but still you were attempting to relate apples to oranges.
As you can see, WinXP has far less problems than Linux.
Why does the link to your Linux section of Security Tracker point to: "View Topics > Underlyingos > Windows (Any)" ??
Looks to me like you pointed to Windows (ANY), not Linux.
Likewise, I compared Windows XP to FreeBSD. Windows XP had 3039 documents of security problems, and FreeBSD had 404.

Pretty cool idea.

How are the 2 men related (if at all)?
Puppet Master
That must be the secret to the not crashing thing...
Hey, I think I have a digital calendar somewhere...
I think I'll put that in my car and then I won't crash right?

Shouldn't he be trying to vaccinate Windows first?

Good point. My wife and I don't discuss business at home. I should have mentioned that. Thanks.
I told her from the beginning, while there, I make the rules, and she follows them, otherwise there's the door. After hours (away from the office), things are normal.
This worked for me, and still does.
One works, and one doesn't.
"Bush Boy" can't rely on Jeb anymore, so why not use an inferior voting system to get re-elected.

Linux (ANY)
and
Windows XP
But even this is unfair... It should be Windows (ANY), if you're going to compare any flavor of Linux to any flavor of Windows.

Windows CEMENT was born...
So if I move to L.A. County, I'll have to find a new way to do my DNS.
In my opinion it is more accurate than MapQuest or Yahoo Maps combined. Also easier to use.
