    I usually tell them that I have 15 other projects ahead of them, and that it won't happen for at least a few weeks/months.
    However, if they really need it, they can ask my supervisor to do so, but it will cost.
    My supervisor usually asks me how long it will take and how much will it cost, and I give him a huge number.
    He tells the customer/employee, and that usually settles it. If they really want it, they'll have to pay big bucks for it,
    or they can wait until I have time (which never happens)...

    Heh... My boss came to me and said he just read this article. Wanted to know "what effect that was going to have on us as well as our customers?"
    I asked him what today was, and he said "Tuesday... Why?"
    Then I asked again, what today's DATE was? and he said "April 1st... Why?... Oh you think it's a joke?"

    Told him that it was probably true and I would research it and let him know in a few days how it would effect us and our customers.

    I really love messing with him.

    I never understood Disney's action by taking that tape off the market for so long.

    The actual reason was that the original packaging box showed the underwater towers in the background.
    Some panzy ass organization said those towers looked like penis's.
    So the entire lot was removed until new boxes could be re-printed.

    If you have one of the original boxes, it's probably worth a lot of money.

    I saw the poster once at a doctor's office waiting room, and quite frankly I didn't see anything to get really upset over.
    But remember that this was the same group that said the word "SEX" appeared in The Lion King...

    Individual results were also quite clear: while some spam messages compressed slightly better when mixed with ham, ham messages still maintained a margin of 15% or more between the most spamlike ham, and the most hamlike spam.

    Looks like either Dr. Suess, or members of Monty Python...

    I'm surprised that no one mentions A-S-K (Active Spam Killer). It's a small Python script, that uses whitelist technology.

    I've used it for about 4 months now, and it has cut my spam from the 100 or so a day I was getting to about 3 a month...

    I believe they get enough info from the retailers anyway, there's no need for this.

    I just run my own server :)

    FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE connected to a SW Bell DSL service with 5 IP Addresses.
    That, plus my regular phone, costs me about $89.00 per month.
    And my uptime has been over 130 days.

    I have used about 6 3-Ware Escalade IDE Raid cards in customers servers. They haven't failed yet.

    And they are already supported by FreeBSD using the twe driver. That's always a plus.

    For $149.00 for the card and $79 each for 2 120 GIG, 7200 RPM, 8 MEG cache on board hard drives, that's a damn good deal.

    I agree. Whitelists are the only way to go. Take a look at A-S-K (Active Spam Killer).
    It works very well. A small Python script that checks incoming messages,
    and if something within the message matches your whitelist, it delivers it.
    Otherwise it sends the sender a message asking them to verify (one time only)
    who they are before delivering the message.

    I've used it for about 3 months now, and my spam has dropped from 175/day to 0...

    They may not have failed to protect themselves, in fact I think they did a good job.
    However, I did notice some slow downs while visiting some web sites.. Others were completely gone.

    I even remember my boss coming in and asking if something was wrong with our server.
    I told him that the root servers were being attacked. He told me to stop the attackers... :)

    I saw that headline.... and I too cracked up laughing. The lady in front of me at the grocery store, told me to heed the words strongly. She was sure it could happen.

    I told her to go back to isle 3 and buy a clue or two...

    I have a teacher friend, who had a student once named "SHITHEAD".

    Actually, it was pronounced "Sha-Teed".

    But, SHITHEAD was the actual spelling. I don't envy that kid...
