... "hot topics": meteor impact, dinosaurs, mass extinction, global warming, DNA, obesity,
energy efficient cars...
Ok, I'm doing a study on how the dinosaurs became extinct after a meteor impacted on our obese planet causing global warming and DNA inconsistencies...
...probably approached ICANN with a canned solution ready to go...
Actually GoDaddy approached Registerfly alone, outside of ICANN. The deal was made on the back end. Kevin Medina had to know this was his best alternative because ICANN was/is suing the pants off of him.
I let my son play pretty much any game he wants. He's 16 and was just playing another Grand Theft Auto game on the PS2. I was watching him for the longest time and I asked him, "So do you have any tendencies to start killing people in school?" He replied, "nope... In fact this helps me relieve my tensions".
I have to agree. Game playing like that didn't have a negative effect on me either, neither did listening to "Heavy Metal" music. Those kids who shoot up schools have deeper problems that I I don't believe have anything to do with violent game play.
If you have a team of lawyers that you spend tens of millions of dollars on each year sending me a threat that you will take me to court for millions of dollars unless I pay you $5,000 -- I'm going to pay you the $5,000. No matter how justified I may feel I am and no matter how completely innocent of any accusation I may be, the $5,000 is probably a tenth the cost I will end up spending on a lawyer and there is little chance that lawyer will be able to appropriately defend me against a team of lawyers who spend $5,000 on their combined lunches.
And what happens in 3 to 5 years, when the RIAA decides to do this again? Will you pay another $5,000 next time? About the time after that? When does it end?
I noticed last week, that GKG.NET is offering all RegisterFly customers a chance to transfer to them for only $5.99. That's better than GoDaddy's $6.95 price. I see that they have also lowered their transfer price from $7.49 to $6.95!
Not bad. I have all mine at GKG, and have never had a problem with them.
That's just silly to assume that because your state does not observe DST, you don't have to fix your servers...
Glad I use GKG.NET. They didn't go down at all. I even called them on Friday and asked if they were up to date with their DST fixes, and they assured me they were.
Their prices compare to other registrars (including GoDaddy) as far as
domain names are concerned. I've never had a problem with them.
They've been in business over 14 years, so if you are looking
for a new registrar, give GKG.NET
a try.
Given that 0% of images with text on them are genuine it shouldn't be hard for a spam filter to detect these messages and dump them...
I have to disagree. I work for a Registrar/ISP/Hosting company. We get tons of complaints of missing email (flagged as spam, etc...) The problem is that most of these all include some time of inline image (Outlook let's you put your own background in the message), or some attach a copy of their business card. So those messages are now flagged as spam and dumped even though they are legitimate messages.
I was in the process of hiring a new programmer. A guy walks in, he's dressed in jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers. Nothing wrong with this at all for a programmer. I wear that myself:)
However, this guy sits in a chair and promptly puts his feet up on my desk and says "So chief, tell me what I'll be doing around here?"...
I told him "Getting your fscking feet off my desk would be job 1 and getting the fsck out of here would be job 2".
He looked rather surprised and wondered what he did wrong...
That makes no sense, however. I don't own the phone network once it leaves my house (more precisely, the NID), but I have a right to privacy as defined by quite a bit of legislation.
Err... read The Patriot Act lately? The government *IS* allowed to wire tap your phone, in search of terrorists.
Since phone lines carry email, then they can read your email just the same.

Heh... The company I work for actually did this. I remember shortly after I started, the CTO was working for 48 hours straight printing out every line of log files for a law firm who subpeona'd the data from us. The order never said it had to be in digital format:) So after printing out every line of the log files pertaining to a particular spammer/user for the past 2 years, he boxed it up, and contacted a delivery service to pick up the 23 boxes of paper and deliver it to the law firm in question.
I think they had to file for an extension if I remember correctly.:)
I just bought Alias (PC Game) for my wife. She likes the show. The game does not run on any of the 5 Windowx XP Pro systems we have. All kinds of problems.
DirectX SDK not installed, and I have downloaded it from Microsoft, still it will not run the game.
When I first tried to play, it said to insert Disk 2, (disk 2 was already in), but it kept saying to insert it over and over). I then switched it to Disk 1 and that's when I found out about DirectX SDK.
Tried to contact Akklaim and ask their support for assistance on this (I can't be the only one), their site is down, and no response via email. Phone is disconnected
So, now, I have a piece of defective software that I can't take back to the store because it's been opened, and I don't think another copy of the same software is going to fix the problems.
The BSA counts this as a sale, and I lost my hard earned money on this crap. No wonder I used to pirate software all the time.
AVG Free is a good product, I used it for about a year until I found Avast. It's also free for home use and I've used it for about 2 years now. Works flawlessly, and has never failed me yet.

Where's my grant money ? :)

I'm from Texas... I (personally) don't want any more Bushes in Texas.

In Soviet Russia, genuine pirate copies you.

Where the word "Salary" comes from.
Great customer service and comparable price wise to GoDaddy.

Not at these gas prices anyway :)
Shouldn't Microsoft use this software on their own products to fix these types of problems?
That makes no sense, however. I don't own the phone network once it leaves my house (more precisely, the NID), but I have a right to privacy as defined by quite a bit of legislation.

No, the worst was when Microsoft combined 3 of their operating systems to create a new product.
They combined Windows CE, Windows ME, and Windows NT to make:
Windows CEMENT!
I think they had to file for an extension if I remember correctly. :)

They have always been a Linux/Unix shop. The problem GoDaddy had last year with Parked pages not working on Safari was not a problem at GKG.
They're priced the same as GoDaddy (in most cases). So if security is an issue, switch to GKG!.
I'm surprised no one mentioned it before.

Wait... My XP still crashes from time to time... So where are the benefits of me upgrading???
