The Washington Post has an excellent mp3 section focusing on local bands. If you're a DC band you can Post your MP3s there. T&C seem pretty generous - you retain copyright, and just let WP distribute your songs. And anyone who has Chuck Brown available is worth doing business with, definitely.
The difference now is that SACD and DVD-A have substantially zero adopters now. By excluding digital output the makers are telling the logical early adopters (audiophiles) to go fuck themselves. So the chances of adoption are very, very low, I think.
It's just like DAT, which failed largely because of anti-copy provisions. If the manufacturers want these formats to fail, they're certainly doing the right thing now.
Case in point: this afternoon I hope to go buy a copy of the new Cash album. It's not likely that his label (American Recordings) will use copy protection, but I'll ask. If it's copy protected, I won't buy it. If not, I will.
Is this individual case relevant? Of course not. Is it in aggregate? Ask the guys behind DIVX.
In region 1 you're correct. Check out amazon.co.uk for region 2 television dvd's (e.g. Simpsons, South Park) - you can buy the whole series on a small number of discs there. Reason enough to hack your R1 player to make it region-agile.
Housing prices dropped a lot -- something that hasn't happened this time, to my astonishment
YET. Rents are way down here, and foreclosures are up, which means banks will be dumping property cheap - exactly what this ridiculous housing market needs.
Seriously, brak was way fun. Perhaps it would be the best way to do April Fool's - give some carefullyselectedtrollsandjokers editor access for a day, and give everyone tons of mod points - it could be really fucking hilarious, certainly better than 4/1/02 (though the "anon has been disabled" trick was funny).

Think of it as "time-shifting."
In this case, no, because Cash ripped fine. (Good album too.)
You could of course take the analog video-out and burn that to VCD. Or Tivo it. Lots of choices once you hit analog.

They give an excellent electric shock.

What, buy a video game and hand cream at the same site? That's just TOO WEIRD.
I'm not married, but I'm pretty sure my sweetie would kill me if I turned on Lifetime.
"Your call is important to us, please hold"
Just asking.
Fuck that, I'll TiVo it and watch it in the morning.

I say congrats on the scoop, Rob!
This is a scoop. Nobody else has it yet - Yahoo, NYT, WP. Here's the WP's pre-announcement.
It says you give porn to charity?
Definitely it's timesharing. Bring your punchcards.
Yes, you can!

they got all the furniture off ebay for pennies on the dollar.
What you fail to note in your story is that "coffeehouse music" can only end up on LITE-FM.
What happened to the Daylight Savings Time article?
I bet he was in stitches.
Unless you're a TV fan. Try to buy South Park Season 4 on Region 1 DVD - you can't, because it's still in reruns here. Only available in Region 2.
