If you've ever done bar-dips, you probably know the tingling feeling of micro-muscle tears. Supplements, steroids, it's all for the same purpose: to enable you to better wear out your muscles.

Dear god it hurts. How is it that someone so woefully missinformed manages to post all this bollocks and come away thinking he's done us a favour?

Listen Civil_Disobedient (261825), do yourself a favour, put down the muscle mags, stop listening to the idiots at the gym and go read some excercise science textbooks/research papers if you want to learn anything.

Sometimes it's even good to be there in the buggy beginning. I remember I started playing ultima online a week after release and it was the buggiest game ever, with exploits mistakes and rough edges all over the place. As it turns out, these led to hillarity and fun beyond anything the game has become after it was 'fixed'. It was absolute chaos, and that made it an incredibly good game to play.

At the same time, this does not disprove his paper since the article, is not well writen enough to be useful in determining the validity of this work.

IMHO, the best thing about gentoo is the ease with which you can write an ebuild. This leads to a lot of software being supported and current. It's awesome. Have a small software package that's not in portage? spend 5 minutes on the ebuild and everyone can have it.
A new version of some software was freshly released? sometimes all it takes is renaming the ebuild. I hope they don't complicate this anymore than it already is; it's their greatest asset.

The question is: is this ease of packaging because the packages are mostly sources and not binaries?

But, kde 3 came out. And I really wanted it. I waited and waited and it never got added to debian. I tried the unnoficial packages but they were crap and kept breaking all the time, as well as being slow on updates like kde 3.0.1 - 3.1.

So after months of being stuck in kde2 or a lousy kde3 i left debian for gentoo and never looked back.

1: the on-stage demonstrations are meaningless
I've seen perpetual motion machines convincingly demonstrated on stage, surprise surprise they didn't work. I've seen david copperfield on stage to and it really looked like he was flying

2: It should be very clear by now that while apple didn't lie about their machine's spec scores, they totally fucked the other machines they used as comparisons.

I guess they figured it was easier to make other spec scores lower and not get caught then to inflate theirs. Oh well, that's apple for you. The one that really got to me was the quake3 score. Their 300 something fps is probably true, but the intel machine they say gets low 300's, actually gets high 400's.

What I don't get is why apple has to make statements like "worlds fastest PC" and "worlds first 64bit PC". I mean shit, it's actually neither. Why not just publish their benchmarks and let them stand on their own merit. After all, their machine is fast enough to please most people. Why do they have to 'conduct' their own intel benchmarks and compare?

If you're buying an apple, you're not doing it for price/performance or even just performance, you're doing it because you like OS10 and you like mac hardware.
