Napster is ON CRACK! With all the crap they've put people through. With whoever thought of the idiot idea of th $15 month unlimited music listening fee but when you stop paying the music stops working.
I knew this would happen once idiot ISPs try to block port 25 for sending email. I connect to a company mail server (that isn't my ISP's) to send/receive email (which requires authentication). Some ISPs have blocked ppl from doing that to "cut down on spam."
It was just a matter of time before the weasels figured it out. they have too much money to throw around not to work on something like this.
You *will* care 5 milliseconds after you die. But by then, it's too late. Remember my words when you stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment and are cast into the Lake of Fire.
It's sad people think like this. They don't know the value of their soul/spirt.
Oh well. I don't believe in forcing people to believe (as that doesn't work). But I hope one day, the Holy Spirit of God does touch your heart, before it's too late.
Yes, Santa *is* an anagram of Satan. But I don't know how much weight I put on it. I *do* believe however that the whole Santa thing does take away from the true spirit of Christmas which is remembering Christ's birth, that He is the Gift to the world and His purpose was to die on the Cross.
In Scripture, we're never told to remember the Birth of Christ, but we are commanded to Remember the Death, Burial, and Resurection of Christ (and remember it often, not just at Easter).
I do celebrate Christmas and give and receive gifts (especially for my 4 kids) but the whole Santa thing doesn't happen in our house.
I've been told (and CAN'T PROVE as I haven't researched it) that Santa is really a product of the Coke-a-Cola company (Red and white and he always Drinks Coke -- you notice that?) I don't really know, and quite frankly don't care.
"You keep Christmas in your way, let me keep it in mine." -- Scrooge. Scrooge's lack of charity and general Spirit of Joy aside, it is a true statement.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to all you slashdotters in parts of the world where it's already Christmas Day.
I am very serious. It does depend on your spiritual beliefs. It is the Soul (or Spirit) that's precious to God. Animals do not have. One posters comment about something physiologially special about humans is actually in reverse. There's something special about animals that makes them not depend on a Sould/Spirit.
The shocking comment is a reference to the medical field. Often, Doctors pronounce people "brain dead" but still bring them back to life through shocking or some other method. Really, it just means the Soul/Spirit has not left the body and were thus able to be revived.
The only thing the posters show in response to my comment is a complete lack of faith or spiritual belief. It's sad, but it is your belief just as this is mine.
Cloning animals is one thing. I personally don't think we'll EVER be able to clone a human. The reason? Animals do not have a soul. Humans do. You cannot clone the soul, and without it a human cannot live. When the soul leaves the body, you're dead and no amount of shocking will bring you back.
The real question is any of GIMP's code that isn't tied to the UI (GTK+) in this program? Microsoft steels everything it can't have. Quite frankly the UI doesn't look as good as the GIMP IMHO.
The movie clip shows Zaphod Beeblebrox with only one head and he has 2 (at least in the original series). I wonder how many other "liberties" they're taking with the story?:-(
Interesting artcile. but Taco, your own site is slower than molases. I'd expect better from one of the slashdot creators:-)
There is a new product for sale in the malls around here. It's 100+ old style arcade games built into one small game controller that just plugs into the RCA jacs on your TV (if you have those). It's pretty cool to see Donkey Kong, Super Mario, and Pac Man again. But they left out Star Wars (remember the Vector version?).
Except that all the screenshots and such are not mirrored, only the first page. After that, they all go to osdir.com and slow as molasses while it's slashdoted to hell.
How about using the new video card now in the Apple PowerMac G5's to power the Apple 30" LCD Screen? I think it's the GForce 9800 or something but my number may be off. It has 2 dual DVI outputs, so you can probably do one window with it anyway.
For those of you that have not yet looked at the Mac OS X (Tiger) preview and WWDC web cast, the new spotlight technology built into the next version of Mac OS X looks very much like a fully integrated database file system. And it's incredibly fast. Go check it out!. Note: QuickTime required. Mplayer may work for us Linux heads but I haven't tried it.
I've used apple computers since '86 and Linux since '96. I've always Liked a lot of what Apple has done, but the constant delay an foot dragging to get the Apple Store into Canada and now the iTunes Store into Canada is just stupid. I don't get it. Canada should have been 2nd on the list or done at the same time the US was done. It took ages for the Apple Store to come to Canada, and now that it is, it's great.
Maybe I need to go to Cupertino and punch Jobs in the Face for his idiocy on these things. Brilliant when it comes to many things, but lacking in many ways at others:-(
I really don't care what you think of my intelligence good or bad. I'm stating what I believe to be true. If you read the rest of the posts here, not everyone believe this dribble either. Just because I say, "I believe in Creation" you come up with these insults.
Well. Not much I can do. But I will say this, You will believe two, 5 milliseconds after you die. Mark my words, and remember them well. They will come back to haunt you at the end of time. Whether you want to believe it or not, is irrelevant.
Well accepted doesn't make it correct. It's still a theory, and one (I might add) that cannot be proven, unlike a few others you've quoted.
Being a creationist, I still subscribe to the world wide flood as the reason dinosaurs are extinct. This isn'a theory, but it *is* a matter of faith, and that's what I believe.
Gnumeric has always been great at loading Excel spreadsheets and offers pretty good compatibility for what I do (don't do a lot of charting). How does it stack up?
latest generation of the most advanced and powerful free desktop
I'm not sure I'd agree with this statement. KDE Suffers from many shortcomings over Gnome, and visa versa. I'd agree with ONE of the most advanced and powerful, but not THE most advanced and powerful.
This is just leading to a monoply and corporate control of the Internet. As much as I'd like to see a solution like this, as I believe it will work, we need to be sure that anyone can still participate
Our LUG recently had a disucssion on x.509 certs and how it could be used to verify a mail server. If a mail server starts to send spam, the cert is revoked and can no longer send mail. This is more drastic, and leads to the same corporate control however.
D-Link sux. Use Netgear, at least they know what they are doing. D-Link and Linksys are nothing but problems, especially in the wireless area.

If NORAD put as much effort into real Security as they did this nonsense, America would be a safer place.
I'm sure whoever did this had a lot of fun though.

Replying to my own post, I know but I went and checked. It's the 6800.

It seems the funky computer display they show at the beginning of the movie, Paycheck (with Ben Afleck) isn't too far off then?
All I get is
"Server Error
The service you requested is not available at this time.
Service error -27."

The lack of MI is a big negative for me. I'm actually surprised Java doesn't have it. Oh wait, that's one reason why Java SUCKS! :-)

All this says, all the good geek chicks are playing Counter Strike!
