Over the long run much of the cost of machines is in support. The cost of support of micro-farms is much higher then what it would cost to support one or two machines. I still don't see how it is cost effective to have a micro-farm.
Linux has gotten big enough that Adobe has to recognize it as an OS for their software. I personally would really like to see some more graphics software for Linux. Not having some of the big 3D software is what has kept my windows partician around.
Who is actually surprised. Advertising departments do this type of thing all the time. Just about any photograph in a weight loss ad was airbrushed. Why should the movies be any different. Just don't take everything at face value.
I think that we will be getting more and more intrusive advertising. Banner ads are getting larger. Just look at ZDNet's advertising. On any article there is an ad for Compaq or IBM that takes up most of the page. This is just coming in on TV now. I don't have a solution, but god help the day that push webpages actually happen.
This is a great idea that I would like to see take off. It would be really good for the open source community to put a consule like this together without the funding that PS2 or XBox had.
The reason open sourced software development works so well is because many people can help out on the project and put as little or as much time as they want. With open sourced hardware, not nearly as many people will be able to contribute to the cause due to lack of hardware resources. Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea, but I don't think it will get the same success as open sourced software.
This is why they should get filters, or atleast block some subnets...
The problem with hotmail is that they don't let you block more then 250 spammers.
I always like StarOffice better. I haven't seen KDE's new version of KOffice, but I liked Applix over the KOffice I saw...I thought they were doing pretty good in the office dept.
There's already code:

...otherwise linux on notebooks would suffer...

Does anyone know about how accurate this system really is?
Sorry, one more thing. It is covered under warranty though.
Take this for what it's worth, but my IPaq just died in less then a year. It won't work at all.
I would have held out just for spite against M$. Well until they started flashing a lot of money. :-)
This is a great article to use for education. It would have saved me some headache when I first tried learning about threads.

Does anyone know how ext3 is supposed to compare with these other fs?
I was expecting the number of DoS attacks to be higher. Being on IRC a lot, I see a number of small single user DoS attacks made.

I like the name helix better. I'm surprised they aren't changing there logo also
That wouldn't be a bad summer job...Beats a paper route.
I don't know too much about Plex86...How stable is it?

The worst is when you are coding all night and you take a couple hour nap and then try figuring out where you left off...It's so much harder
I'm a huge gamer, but I never seem to ever do any of it on my laptop. Is it just me or is there a market for this?
If sega wants to stay in the game, then they are going to have to do something like this. Hopefully this isn't rumor.
It seems like everyone is connected now...It's a crime if they aren't.
Now that there is habitants of outspace, who is the governing body for space?
