    I have an Epson Stylus Color in my basement. I buy one because of the great Linux Support. But after using it for 2 or 3 month I begin to be tired to buy 60$ ink tank every mount or so. So I go to my local computer store to find a printer with separete ink tank I buy and Canon S500 with no Linux support, but with separated ink tank. I the last half year I replace the blank Ink only once for 10$ not 60$ every month, 10$ twice a year !

    The article stand : The DMCA, which took effect two years ago, limits selling software that "is primarily designed or produced for the purpose of circumventing protection afforded by a technological measure that effectively protects a right of a copyright owner." Linux PPC permit to use the PPC platform to "circumventing protection afforded by a technological measure" and any other Linux distribution (and a lot of Linux Driver) I think so can do thing, that is not permitting with the "normal windows distribution or driver". With the Linux Driver of some ATI Card you can copy protected video that it's not permitted with the "standard Windows Driver". I hope I'm wrong !

    If I want Linux Game I will buy games that Run on Linux insteed of game that run On Windows. Just to prouve that Linux it's also an Gaming OS !

    If I remember rigth, in Idependance Day, they use TCP/IP ! When he connect the laptop on the alien vessel, we can see a Big window in the "MovieOS" style where we can read "TCP-IP Connect" !

    Analysts suspect that Warner left the release unprotected, to investigate whether this would have a significant impact on sales.

    Go ahead everybody, buy a copy of Harry Potter, and if they find that the "unprotected" video have more sales than expected, this will be the end of protected DVD :-)

    The point is there, have good tools, or buy some good ones.
    I have arround this 3000 boxes with 1 24/7 rottating staff of sysadmin and helpdesk.

    You can mod me down if you want.
    And you can tell me that the real Unix Power is in the Command Line and in VI (or Emacs).

    But today, if you give good training to your staff and give them good management tool, like the Tivoli suite from IBM and the Unicenter from CA, and I know you can name it a dozen of this Multi-Unix management center.

    With this kind of tool, you can realy incress the number of Unix Boxes managed by one Unix Admin!

    Space-time is a dimension in the theory of Einstein. But, if time is an dimension, we can travel in it in all direction like we can do in other dimension. Right now, time seen to be an one-way dimension. In all the others dimensions, we are always between two horizon of this dimension and we can travel in the direction of the horizon. Time doesn't permit this, so I think that the Einstein analogy doesn't stan the analysis.

    My question is :
    To you think IBM will support Linux in an broad manner instead of only on there aging Mainframe ?

    Linux it's not only the kernel, it also the GNU movement and it's also a lot of individual who program it, and program application for it and use it.

    When a company claim to support Linux and in fact they only use it to promote they older and desuet platform, it's a really bad move for my opinion.

    I want to konw when IBM will begin to support Linux at an OS for it-self instead like an tools for selling hardware.

    IBM never release any desktop tools for Linux. The Lotus SmartSuite never hit the Linux Desktop, nor Notes. By doing this, IBM it's the only company with Microsoft do not port they office suite to Linux.

    The IBM's Lexmark company never provide any driver for the home /SOHO printer (the only Lexmark printer driver was marked experimental at linuxprinting). By doing this, IBM it's the only company in the world do not offer support for there printer to the Linux Home users.

    IBM also dicontinue the support for ViaVoice under Linux!

    IBM also doesn't support they desktop and notebook hardware under Linux or other free OS! IBM even take the FreeBSD partition number to use it for it's "suppend to disk" on the bios of ThinkPad making them unusable for FreeBSD !

    I really think that's IBM only take the Linux part they need now, and don't look at the future.

    The grid computing it's right there at our door, and already desktop begin to replace mainframe in batch processing. We are now using lost cpu cycle do process job under the Windows and Linux desktop. If IBM doesn't investigate this oppurtunity (and the Linux Desktop) in the neer future, IBM will just don't get the next wave and will begin to clash !

    Galeon have this for a long time, and so mozilla since .97 or .96; Opera have it also in 6.0 version.

    I download the new Netscape 7 preview one! And it's not a big deal if you look at Mozilla. But it's really better than IE. Obviouly !
