Sounds to me like you are an average Linux admin and a absolutely terrible Windows admin. Learn the platform before you bash it. If I was your boss you would have been fired long ago for being lazy and incompetent.

Man no one at slashdot would ever get this sofa. How would you like to come home sit down on your couch only to be greeted by the electronic robot voice "OVERLOAD>>> OVERLOAD>>> OVERLOAD>>>"
Are you nuts?
Netscape invented the special tags to do stuff!
If you had ever developed web pages you would understand just how dumb you just sounded.
I can't believe you got modded as insightful. See the DOM as an example of taking what MS made and not going down the Netscape lane to lunacy.
Peace,

Well if it makes you feel any better I can't do an add drop right now and my school uses apache + php.
All it took was >15k students to swamp the system.
I am sorry but you are retarded. See Cell Phone operators for an example of private network. You are required by ATT, SprintPCS etc. Whats that the air waves are public right? I mean its just through the air..
You would think your IT administrators would understand the seriousness of the vulnerability. It is only your companys fault for not patching. You are nuts if you try to blame this on MS. Why would you not patch a remote rootable whole immediately in any os. Where I come from the potential loss of data is much more severe than any perceived potential breaking of applications.
BTW I have heard no problems caused to third party apps from installing this patch.
Show me please. They are my vendor and as far as I am concerned have always done a bang up job in customer service. If theres a problem I will let them know and they will fix it. I highly doubt your statement without any backup. To complain about MS when its YOUR shoddy code's fault is absolutely unprofessional. You are on public record for absolutely ravaging MS whatever they do. What a fricking hypocrit.

Mod me down please but this is the exact double standard that seems to pervade Slashdot and every GPL nut that I talk to. If there are ever any problems whatsoever its all Microsofts fault. Give me a break.

and I can communicate with you on your wonder crash for w2k server.
Well obviously opera doesn't support the STANDARD that is windows update. I would suggest getting off your high horse and using a tool that will allow you to keep your machine up to date.
I think the xbox is pretty cool. The online stuff looks impressive as well. You conveniently neglect that part of the xbox didn't you?
They are the only ones pushing the envelope on online doing something truly innovative. This isn't just connecting up to a server to play games like pc. This is a completely new experience. Add to it the Xbox Communicator and you have an incredible combination.
As for the hard drive thats a pretty big deal as well. Can you play ripped music off your PS2's memory cards? I didn't think so...
PS3? Who is that? I think Sony has to worry more about Xbox 1.
That is a good story and all that you paint but Sony didn't actually leave the show. So I don't think this will have any affect on CeBit people. Definitlely have an affect on those ZDnet readers and/. ers furthering the ANTI-MS hegemony.
Does it make any difference that Microsoft is at least ten times bigger than any other software company? Doesn't it stand to reason that they would contribute more than anyone else?
You didn't answer the original question. Let me put it this way for you using your words.
"Linux decides it wants to own the OS market, so they copy your OS and give it away for free on the net, while refusing to sell MS products. How is MS going to compete, or even stay in business?"
I am sorry but you aren't serious are you? You have just written another prototypical sky is falling argument and I totally disagree with you here.
They tried to break Apple Quicktime? All they did was drop support for NETSCAPE plugins. I don't see why they supported them in the first place but it doesn't make sense for them to support them. Apple new this was coming and thats why they had their plugin ready.
As for future things that they could do wrong you don't punish people for things that you think they might do. You punish them on what you have done. I mean its totally possible that I could kill you and all of your family tomorrow. Am I going to get locked up for it?
As for releasing products at no costs being illegal. Maybe Linux should be outlawed as its unfairly competing with other operating systems that cost money.

Yeah its great that MIT's OCW was built using Microsoft Software. Good job linux for enabling this.

Not when you have Netscape 4.x users...

You obviously dont have a job. You might like to step outside into the real world...

You should be. You guys can't even beat your in-state rivals.
Let me know how you like being raped by Roy Williams.
BoomerSooner?
You guys are toast this year. Texas will eat your lunch.
That has to be the absolute dumbest logic I have ever heard...
USB Webcams will be here forever. [no brainer]
If you go to big retail chain stores DVD+R +RW are the most popular DVD drives.
The day Dell and HP decided to go with DVD+RW is the day that sealed the fate of which technology would win out.
In case you hadn't noticed those guys ship loads more colume than apple.
You might step out of your reality distortion field for a second.

Don't be so self righteous.
Neato.
lol.
Man you really hate MS don't you!

Big mistake you make is that Microsoft is just going to stand still. Nice dream though. But not very realistic.
You imply that Windows graphics aren't already "accelerated". They have been "accelerated" since Windows 95 with GDI.
As for Apple accelerating their GUI that remains to be seen. Their UI is incredibly slow compared to pretty much every other GUI I have used.
That is a good story and all that you paint but Sony didn't actually leave the show. So I don't think this will have any affect on CeBit people. Definitlely have an affect on those ZDnet readers and /. ers furthering the ANTI-MS hegemony.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Does it make any difference that Microsoft is at least ten times bigger than any other software company? Doesn't it stand to reason that they would contribute more than anyone else?
It says certified for Windows XP not BSD does it not? Get a different board that is certified for your OS.
Duh? Is this a no brainer or what?
You still didn't answer my original question.

I don't buy your argument. Sorry.
