Do you really think this is about ridiculing royals? Its about ridiculing the current government, and supporting Thaksin, who, corrupt as he may be, is still Thailand's last democratically elected president by any meaningful interpretation of democratically.
I couldn't find anything on Federal Law concerning names, but there is this from NSW:
2.3 Naming systems In other cultures, including those of migrants to Australia, show a diversity of practices.6 While It is true to say the majority follow the hereditary paternal surname custom as was transferred from the British Isles, there are some significant differences, especially in Asian and Slavic communities.7 Other systems identified by the Commission do not use either parent's surname In the child's name.8 Names in Aboriginal languages use traditional forms, including skin names, but even within Aboriginal society, practices are not uniform? As it has been impossible to obtain definitive statements of naming practices In ethnic communities represented In Australia, the Commission has not sought to formulate statutory provisions to regulate the naming of children in New South Wales.
Generally when building a form that asks for a name, I create a first name field and a surname field.
And you fail right there. For some people, their first name is their surname. Others don't have a surname. Some of those without a surname may use a patronym or matrinym as part of their full name, but you never use it to address them without their personal name. Some people have a first name and second name that always go together, so parsing a first name out of the full name, or disallowing whitespace in the first name field is another common fail.
Names are complex. Don't assume it doesn't matter because your database is only intended for local use, because unless you live somewhere as closed as North Korea, there are immigrants in your town that break your assumptions.
It's worth noting that in some precincts, Mr. Greene received more votes than were cast. As in, he got 115% of the votes.
And the summary says there is a 10% chance of that voting pattern being legitimate...I was thinking those odds were well within the bounds of reality, but it looks like your election system is just totally screwed.
The Pomodoro technique does not involve rigid scheduling. It encourages you to only list the tasks that need to be done in order of priority at the start of the day along with estimates of how long they will take, not to come up with a full schedule. You then mark off how many 25 minute slots that you spend on each task. It also allows for writing off a 25 minute slot if an urgent interruption comes in. In that case, you don't count the 25 minutes as spent productively on the task you were doing, it counts only as time wasted. The aim is to condition you and others who interrupt your day to allow long enough stretches of working to get things done, and also to force you to clear your mind every half hour by taking a break.
We often get very smart Indian's and Asians in the US, because those two countries represent about 2 Billion people.
Perhaps you should spend less time on spelling bees and more on geography. Asia is a continent, not a country, and it includes India already. Presumably you meant Indians and Chinese from the rest of what you wrote.
It is quite normal for chipsets to not include royalties for patents, as the chip by itself cannot infringe many patents (only ones related to IC packaging and design). It is not until it is put into a circuit with other components that the patented technology is realised, and there may be ways of using the chipset that do not infringe on the patent, or the finished product may only be going to countries where the patent is not recognized.
We have to pay a fee to become an Android developer
I've never paid a fee, and had no problems downloading the official Android SDKs and developing apps. Perhaps you are talking about access to the market, which is not a necessary part of developing nor even distributing Android applications.
It ate its testicles, one at a time. Is that better? Soon enough you'll run out of new wealth creation opportunities as you give the older ones away as soon as their profit making ability stabilizes to a low but steady income stream.
That and a spare battery or two. For someone foolish enough to design a smartphone without a removable battery, this probably seems like a major issue.
MPEG-LA ensures that H.264 and you are free from any patent violations.
No they don't. They provide a single source and standard pricing for payment of royalties for all the patents that have been put in the pool, but they have no control over patents that might have been withheld from the pool.
Actually there are 200 million guns, and 250 million motor vehicles for a population of 300 million. So there are not more guns than people, in fact there are more cars than guns. The overall statement that a motor vehicle is more likely to kill someone than a gun remains true however, until you take into account the length of time people spend using cars compared with guns.
I'm having trouble seeing how this could be relevant to salesforce.com at all, as there is no software installable on the first computer - it is all run on the server.
But if HTC believes its patents are so powerful, why would HTC only lodge a complaint with the ITC, which is very cheap, while clearly shying away from filing a lawsuit?
Because their obligation to their shareholders is to maximize profit, not to line the pockets of lawyers.
If it's based on GPL code and they don't want to release the whole thing under the GPL, they'll need to rewrite the sections under the GPL before they can have their way with it.
Or they can choose not to release it and just use it internally. Nothing in the GPL forces you to release your derived work - only if you do, it must be compatibly licensed.
About 3 years ago, the UK Currys/Dixons in-house brand Logik came out with the IR100 (also Reciva based) at GBP79.99. Within a few months they were marked down to GBP39.99 - a significantly lower price point than the USD100+ for the Solo.
Didn't Amazon already get slapped for this? I seem to recall they were shipping out of the same warehouse in France to Germany, France and UK all at different prices, and not letting you order from the other sites if your shipping address was in one of those countries.
You can't even get the market application (legally) if you do not buy your phone in one of a slightly larger list of countries, so even the free applications are unobtainable. Having said that, the Google Market is cluttered with crap. Apart from the Google applications, most of the good stuff is available from the much smaller selection at slideme.org, where it is still possible to browse through all of the apps in an afternoon.
True, but on modern platforms the difference is not as significant as it was in the days of Windows 95.
Because everyone knows that software developers are a fungible resource - especially tech companies like Google.

Which site will survive this move, bit.ly or twitter?

If one child is autistic, and particular about their food, then the rest of the family's diet changes to accomodate them.

If you're running any servers, you have the power hungry box anyway.

Nice hidden reference there to the biblical creation myth.

You missed "does it use, or was it originally written to target, Flash?"
