I still think MS missed out big time by not naming their search engine "Bong." Then of course we would refer to traffic generated by searches as "Bong hits."
Guess I was unclear there. I am *not* attributing the Somalian man-made disaster to AGW. But Africa is a pretty big continent, and by no means is all of it tropical. I was thinking more of situations like water shortages and related crop failures resulting from the shrinking of the Kilimanjaro and Rwenzori glaciers, the drying up of Lake Chad and similar phenomena.
Given basic human nature, I can predict with a fair degree of confidence that the denialists will be able to avert serious efforts to reduce CO2 levels until people start dying from the effects of AGW in significant numbers, in the developed nations (they are already dying in places like Africa, but we can ignore that). Unfortunately, by that point it will be far too late to remedy the situation. Of course this won't be the "end of the world." The planet will still be here. It may not even be the end of Mankind, although it will be a major extinction event. It *will* be the end of technological civilization, and overpopulation. If humans survive, they will number in the thousands, not billions.
I'd point out all the things that are nonsense in your statement, but the massively brain-dead substitution of "weather" for "climate" really says it all. I bet you sleep with a plush Rush Limbaugh doll.
I thought you were going to make some clever analogy based on adult disposable diapers. Some of them do appear to have a longer useful product life than certain recent tech devices.
CNET acquired (and effectively destroyed) VersionTracker.com, which for years was the primary source for Mac software downloads. But at least macupdate, com is still around for all the stuff that doesn't get into the App Store.
Guess your neighborhood is less densely populated than mine. In my WiFi menu, I can see between 3 and 6 networks pretty much all the time (and one of them is open). Boring bunch around here, though. Most have the damn default equipment name.
I have no problem at all with Dark Matter. Anybody who tries to remember if an introverted friend was at a particular party can understand Dark Matter. It's Dark *Energy* that really sounds like made-up mumbo jumbo to me!
These are *worldwide* figures. Apple has very little presence in lots of Asian markets, which are almost entirely Windows and imitation Windows (pirate hardware and software). The Apple expansion is happening precisely in the most lucrative markets - the US, Europe, Japan, etc.
Because we need, you know... *more* of a gap between us lowly humans and those creepy dudes with FTL drives and laser cannon and all. So we can overcome them with just our brains and some heavy rocks and really pointy sticks!
In the parts of the collections that don't get shown publicly, various museums have quite extensive numbers of Greek vases showing mature men and their teenage male lovers engaged in very graphic sexual acts, complete with erections all around. A Classical Greek scholar published a book recently, using such vases to refute would-be revisionists who claim that the ancient Greeks were not actually gay, but just speaking in metaphors.
Technically, her genitalia are obscured, but only just. She's definitely posing in a sexual manner. The photo is in very questionable taste, and probably around 95% of "average citizens" would call it child porn. Not a good "test case" for criticizing Google's actions.
Or obscuring it... Those who cast doubt on the human origin of increased CO2 are no better than those who deny that climate change exists. This IS NOT a point of controversy among actual climate scientists. Measuring of CO2 output has been done for decades now, and the picture is clear - human activity accounts for the vast majority of the increase. I have read repeated posts from denialists attached to any news report on volcanic activity, saying how insignificant human activity must be compared to such a huge natural event. In fact, exactly the opposite is true - the CO2 output of all the world's volcanoes is insignificant next to the human output, constituting less than 0.4%.
Roy Spencer is not a legitimate climate scientist. He is not following scientific methodology. Your statement to the contrary undermines your credibility far more than it enhances his.
Dr. Roy Spencer is a professional Denialist, who has been putting out junk "science" like this for years now: http://scienceblogs.com/deltoid/roy_spencer/ What's next for/. ? An expose of last year's headlines from snopes.com?
If it's a Trojan asteroid, does that mean it's full of space Greeks?!!!
Sigh. Try using your brain occasionally. The Trojans were *not* Greeks. The Greeks were their enemies. I guess the Brad Pitt movie didn't make that point clearly enough.
In some systems of reckoning, a generation is said to be 30 years (although mostly shorter in biological terms). So, are we ready for the second generation of MS-DOS?
(Please be neat and only puke in the designated barf bags.)
Somebody mod this up, please! I missed out on Commodore and Amiga myself, but I have friends who were users and still rhapsodize over its advanced capabilities. And they are seriously knowledgeable and capable ubergeeks.
Your comment reveals two facts about you: 1. You have never owned an Apple product. 2. You have no problem passing judgment on something even though you lack any actual knowledge of it.
You conveniently fail to mention that Fox News has broadcast a steady diet of distorted and often outright incorrect information. Oh, and the common term for "incorrect information" as promulgated by Fox News is "lies." Don't pretend it's just ideological differences, buddy boy. Fox News tells lies, over and over.
Your idea of "economics" has no relevance to what happens in actual economies.

Parents of autistic kids are among the most vocal of the anti-vaccine crowd. Is that now considered to be a "technically minded" attitude?

They surveyed engineers. Engineers *never* think they have enough time or resources for a project.
"Que" is not an English word.

The really "wierd" thing is how you people spell weird.
What, nobody uses a spellcheck any more?
