I didn't even know apps like this existed. Can't wait to give it a shot!
Funny that police departments support these apps (specifically in my town according to the advertisement on a few of them even) yet our "representatives" in legislature do not.
I don't think it's got as much to do with it being the norm; there simply aren't any alternatives other than companies like metropcs which have shitty service.
Here's your options:
1. Don't use a cell phone - lol; I don't see that happening
2. Put up with this pricing crap - this is what most of us do
3. Go with an unlimited budget service like metropcs or cricket. Just keep in mind you pay full price for the phone, the hardware available isn't as good as what "premium" carries like Verizon or AT&T offer, and the service is terrible.
With so many free and often updated news sources, why would anyone want to restrict themselves to just one. Let alone, pay huge fees and be limited on how much you can read it.
If they were charging $1/year, I wouldn't be buying - it's not like they have anything to offer that's unique anyway. Nearly every article they print is also shared with other news sources via AP, and is re"printed" on many free websites.
I'm sure there are some old people with their jitterbug phones that are still into newspapers like nyt, but in my mind newspapers were dead years ago; they're just twitching like a dying rat in a trap now.
It's getting comical reading how everyone is going after google every time they have a product that ends up being successful.... search.. street view.. android... probably others.
Not that the same thing doesn't happen to other companies when they have smash hits.. Facebook.. crapple...etc.
Although the article does say "beers LIKE guinness" there are plenty of other good beer that are nitrogen carbonated. AFAIK that does not include all stout beers like the article implies, nor is notro carbonation limited only to stouts.
Not only that but "Guinness stout" is not nitro carbonated, it's "Guinness draft" that's nitro (and perhaps a few others). There are 11 different varieties of Guinness beer. I've only had two, and they're not very similar in my opinion.

Originally, perhaps. If you look at a recent bottle (at least the one I have here) it says it was brewed and bottled in Canada. Now days, Guinness = Canadian beer.
And the social problem of non-free software? People do not care. They never have, they never will. I doubt Stallman cares about every little detail about things he uses but isn't that interested in. When he is cooking his tv dinner, he just wants a microwave that works. When Stallman goes to his weekly pony riding classes, he just wants a pony that works without going into every mundane detail. Some little girl could think that Stallman is evil because he doesn't raise, feed and have the pony at his home as part of the family, but while Stallman doesn't have time to raise a pony, he wants to ride one. That's when you take what's easy for you without going in to details.
I couldn't disagree more that non free software is a social problem, or any other kind of problem for that matter. Why is there inherently something wrong with creating a piece of software and selling it. If I created a piece of clothing with a sewing machine, then sold the clothing would he oppose that as well?
Now, the current laws about patenting "concepts" are completely out of control, but that's a whole separate discussion.
Free software is fine, as is non free software if you choose to purchase it. I suppose what would make Stallman happy would be for everyone to learn assembler in primary school and write their own software for anything they wanted to do? Of course then you've got the problem for which architecture to teach:)
I disagree.
While I agree with the general theme that the system is hopelessly corrupt, I disagree that this is what will mark this period in history. I largely believe that this level of corruption has existed for almost as long as humans have lived in "civilized" societies.
What will mark this period in history is that it is so well documented. Never before has every nuance of humanity been so well documented. In fact, there's so many documented about humanity right now I don't believe it will be possible for a historian 400 years from now to read about the 1900's completely even if he spends his whole life trying to do it.
Even communications intended by the sender to be temporary such as the emails referenced above can be perfectly reproduced thousands of times for years. In the past, there would have been no record of this type of corruption since the communications would have been largely face to face (out of technical necessity if for no other reason).
Canonical and ubuntu ran a train on the gnome guys and then were surprised gnome didn't want help from the same people who had just screwed them over?
Well I'll be dipped....
Both, since they don't respect the law there's no telling what they will go after next.
Also, I don't think that this represents the government giving anon more leeway. I'm quite sure they'd like very much to have the perpetrator in a courtroom adjacent to the one where the fate of HBGary will be decided. They just haven't caught the perps yet is all.
Did you guys even read the article? I'll answer for you: No.
It doesn't say one in five people who get divorced happen to use facebook. It says "Facebook is cited in one in five divorces in the United States"
Meaning, the divorce complaint specifically mentioned facebook.
This. How is GP even a real question? Could we have given your 89yo grand father a "sincere 'down-to-earth' answer" to the "what is quantum theory" question? Oh, he did not understand? Never mind quantum cryptography, then. Never mind research into prime factorisation.
Seriously, what is with people thinking "if I can not understand it fuck it" these days? How arrogant have we become?
There's a whole profession dedicated to decoding things like this and summarizing them into easy to understand tidbits we call "NEWS ARTICLES". There are probably very few people who understand the science being done at CERN yet a large number of average joes have some idea what is being researched there due to this mysterious "NEWS ARTICLE" phenomenon.
Hey, I think I'll go check out one of these "NEWS ARTICLE" websites.. perhaps slashdot.org.
You may want to rethink things if you think the person you replied to is the person who's being arrogant in this discussion.
It doesn't specify what kind of business. Presumably illegal aliens aren't getting government benefits so they're doing SOMETHING to make money. Mowing lawns, picking strawberries, panhandling, etc...

More importantly; it can be used in porn applications.
If you believe this, then Steve has a bridge to sell you. Actually, rumor has it that the bridge will come free with your iDevice 5.0.
Here's your options:
I've got 99 problems, but some fog ain't one.
So will Java 1.0 and up. Or Flash whatever.0 etc...

We have a winner!

5 years sure seams optimistic to me. Right now, only rich people can afford solar.
There's no Direct X in Apple products either, but nobody says "And that is why Apple doesn't win."
There's plenty of other reasons apple products don't win. No need to dig all the way down to the nitty gritty of graphics api's to have that argument.
Canonical and ubuntu ran a train on the gnome guys and then were surprised gnome didn't want help from the same people who had just screwed them over? Well I'll be dipped....
Doesn't the military generally go with the highest bidder?
10x Blu-Ray burners are down to 89 bucks. 12x for 99. Discs are under $3 each. Burn the pics to bd-r discs; that's what I do.
Yeah, because all 15 year old girls who don't know how to backup pictures offline are running linux!
Man, they need some mirrors badly. Only getting 500KB/sec.. gonna take forever to download.

Correct! It was a silly question in the first place.
