Last I checked, information on the release of a newer product that lets you create and manage virtual machines is both news and very nerdy.
Please think next time you type.
I can see this being used to get kids off their asses and at least moving around some.
Confiscate your child's phone charger, and make it so this is the only way they can charge said phone.
Facebook has proven to be one of the biggest dangers in keeping undercover police officers safe, due to applications such as facial recognition and photo tagging
You want an undercover cop? Change his face. We/do/ have that technology, you know.
Just like with every other technology Apple has repackaged, making it shiny/popular.
The world has ADD, shiny things can only hold their attention for so long before they get bored and try to find something else.
I used you simply because you were convenient, the closest game retailer to my apartment.
But if you're telling me that practices like this are A-OK in your book? Just...no. This is wrong both morally and legally.
I'll be buying my ps3/3ds games from amazon from now on.
I only started posting recently, but I've been reading slashdot since my friend showed it to me roughly 5 years ago.
Best of luck in the future to you sir.
I have an unlimited data plan, but I only use 1, maybe 2 GB max a month. This morning I was curious what my options would be if i chose to get off of it.
I currently have the choice between unlimited for $29.99, 2 GB for $30, 5 GB for $50, and 10 GB for $80.
Needless to say, I stayed unlimited.
Can you imagine if ISPs tried to charge these batshit crazy rates?
Geeks are not having the "channel changed", as in they're just waltzing up and changing it, so much as they're having it reserved. If you tell a bar owner "Hey, me and my friends are going to come get drunk over here if we can change the station", you better believe he's is going to give them the thumbs up.
"It was unbelievable," said Jim Biddle, a manager of Bistro 153 in Beaverton, Ore., which hosted its first Barcraft in July. The 50 gamers in attendance "doubled what I'd normally take in on a normal Sunday night."
Shoe, clothing, jewelry, gun, car, match, and lighter companies were all called in for their roles.
How dare they make products that can be used by destructive people!
3) Austin middle school student ticketed after she sprayed herself with perfume when classmates said she smelled
Oh how I wish this would have happened to both the girls constantly spraying perfume and the guys constantly spraying axe when I was in school.
I've always had a sensitive nose, and they would just douse themselves with the stuff. I swear you could light a match nearby and they'd catch fire.
At least the perfume, for the most part, had a halfway decent smell. Guys? Women don't like the smell of a chemical shitstorm, ask any female. Put the axe away.
That ubisoft, and all other game companies out there, actually think DRM stops piracy.
There are people that see that as a challenge to break it open, and a reason for everyday joes to pirate it to actually jump through less hoops than PAYING for it.
I was hoping to make a "Well, there's still G+!" joke here, but apparently the law doesn't single out Facebook by name, it just says "social networking sites."
This is looking to be an emerging rule in schools in general though, so I don't see the problem.
Two of my cousins are teachers, and both of them have told me that their local schools are enforcing similar rules.
Their results show that the chance of a black scientist receiving a grant was 17%. For Asians, Hispanics and whites the number was between 26% and 29%.
For all we know, this statistic is just due to random chance.
As much as everyone loves to play the race card, you can not deny this IS a possibility.
I'm also not denying that it's a possibility that it is indeed the truth, though. -shrug-
As a race we're incredibly violent, and just look at the world around us, everything is a mess.
If we were ever to meet beings from other planets, the first thought of everyone that has any sort of power would be war for control of their resources.
"Oh look, there's oil over there in the middle east, lets go to war!" will turn to
"Oh look, there's element zero over on that planet over there, lets go to war!"
If you're going to stretch out a game for the sake of stretching it out, and it shows (which in most cases, it does), then no, people are never, ever going to finish.
However, if you make a genuinely good game that JUST SO HAPPENS to stretch out 100 hours? People WILL finish it.
The problem is the quality of gameplay, in most games, decreases the further you get.
Either because the story lacks any real interest "KILL THE BAD GUYS BECAUSE I SAID SO GO" or the gameplay doesn't ever change in the slightest past "Kill enemy A B and C to progress to the next area."
No one wants to play an amazing game for 10 hours, then the last 90 are utter shit that the game devs more or less recycled from the first 10.
Because that would
A. Require they admit fault on their part and
B. Require they do some sort of action other than a lawsuit.
...I guess my choice is clear.
Facebook still has broken privacy controls? That's crazy talk, next you're going to be telling me the sky is blue!

This just kinda strikes me as who would need this. Backing up the entire internet has to take up some space.

Because gamestop opened games, therefore suddenly electronic retailers opening things is what everyone wants to read.

I hardly see your comment as flaming, thank you for it.

The concept is interesting, but I don't think it would work all that well in execution.

Case and point of a typical Facebook user, has absolutely nothing interesting to add to the conversation.
At least he didn't spam me about his farm...
Google+ has no users, but Facebook has no users worth talking to.
I think I'll take Google+ if I'm forced to choose one.
