Load balancing is a mess. The vast majority of load balancing algorithms on VIPs are round robin-based. Fine for http requests from a single UI and that's about it.
This application allows balancing of the services - not the servers.
I've worked w/ 2 or 3 apps written w/ database abstraction in mind. They use BLOB's in all the table columns and the middleware handles the referential integrity.
1. Performs like CRAP 2. Good luck debugging when you have an issue, especially when your primary key, aka acct number is hidden in a BLOB column causing issues at the db level.

It seems when they get serious about their business, they do fine. I would be worried if I was Amazon.
And that is the problem. Everyone thinks the glamour is the new code... which they invariably *screw* up and expect someone else to come in and fix those "details". Developers/Architects suffer from ADD.
Really... how could the director of the department how no idea what was going on w/ the contracting? Uhh... that IS his job. Lord knows the guy wasn't doing any *real* work like architecture.

I steered my 80 year old mother to a Mac... best decision I could have made. Who wants to be on the phone w/ their mother over computer issues? With my mother... it would be all my fault... I would never live it down and the aggravation would never be worth it.
Of course I had to pitch in $... because she is a cheap skate and knows PC's are a couple hundred bucks cheaper and there was no way she was gonna spend extra $ when she didn't have to. Typical of one who lived through the Great Depression I suppose.
The problem was these opinion rags were usually penned by anonymous sources - so the public had no idea who actually wrote the piece nor underwritten the rag. Benjamin Franklin excelled at this.

What?!? I don't know where you live, but my local community has a board for cable/broadband service where the providers go to for right-of-way aquisition and other service-related issues.

Yes, but PM's think Agile is a license to introduce changing requirements through-out the first three stages.
