YOu only want to see and hear at normal levels?? what about some level of enhancement?
That's what shades would be for. I like the style of my glasses. I would like to have "normal" vision without them. If I wanted special tools, I'd want it easily removable. I don't want it stuck forever. I wouldn't mind some small enhancements, but I'd be happy with "normal and to get rid of allergy's. I really aim high.;)
like asking a fox how he can best ensure the safety of your chickens.
Well, they are your chickens. You must insure that other predators don't eat them. You must keep them penned up and guarded so only you can eat them. You don't want to share those chickens do you? I didn't think so. You kill everything else that might eat them.
Let's see, RFID wise. My business owns that data on Job Blow. Other businesses should be able to use my data to their advantage that would be wrong. I need to have laws implemented so only my business can track my consumers. I need to buy or destory in the stock exchange other businesses that may compete with me.
Laws requiring insurance are made when the majority prove themselves either too stupid or selfish to consider what consequences for others their actions have.
Oh, my gosh, we are going to be protected from ourselves again! Everything that I do affects others. IF I die, it affects my family, friends, co-workers, and boss. My family has to pay the cost of disposal of the body. My wife and children will have a source of income. (I'm the only income earner.) My boss will have to hire a replacement employee that could take 3-6 months for approval of the open position and to hire someone. My co-workers would be affect because for that 3-6 months they'd have to do more work. When an individual is hired to replace me, it'll take about 6 months to train them. (My friendly would only suffer emotionally.) So by your logic, life insurance by the company and family members on me should be made mandatory. Well, it sounds like a good idea. I hate that. Anything that sounds like a good idea usually has something wrong with it that I just can't see yet.
I can't remember off the top of my head, but where I live it is either $25,000 or $50,000 min. insurance. If you don't have insurance, you are supposed to be able to show that you have that amount of money for liablity. Do you have $25,000 in the bank just in case? My wife handles the car insurance, I think it is somewhere between $600-$700 every six months. Over time, I'd have that amount of money for just incase purposes. Up front, I couldn't show that I had it. Insurance companies have gotten the law written where you require them.
How would you like it if the insurance companies had the laws so that that every computer had to insured for data loss? Actually, that might be a good thing. I wouldn't want to pay x amount extra though would you?
I don't want to ever have to see another computer again. Period. I want a watch, eye and ear improvements. I want my eye improvement to be able to give me 20/20 vision. I want it to record everything that I've ever experienced and beable to display anything to the same level. The ear implants should be able to record both ears worth of audio in the full human hearing range and store it. It should be able to reproduce almost any sound that the human ear can perceive. The watch should be where everything is stored, the CPU where everything is processed, and is easily removable and replacable when we figure out how to make smaller, faster, and cheaper watches. Oh, the watch should tell time and GPS as well.
They are telling the story of the Simpsons. Only thing they aren't telling the story of a single dimenison. They are obviously showing one episode from each dimenison with the Simpsons in Springfield. Everything is therefore logically explained.
If that doesn't work for you, it's that way because God, aka Matt, wanted it that way.
you really wanted the virus to spread easily and be destructive, it should only deliver its payload if it can't reach the network. But if it can't reach the net, then it won't spread so easily. It's a reverse chick-and-the-egg problem!
Actually, I'm looking forward to the first highly productive virus/trojan. Think of a virus who's sole purpose is to turn on windows auto update and fully patch Windows and Office. Or one that donates free cycles automatically to Protein Folding or is itself a fairly good firewall program that blocks other virus. Here is an idea, have it install adaware and spybot run them and delete itself only after it has confirmed to have infected atleast 10 other machines. Having a built-in expire date and fully GPLed would be good to. You could always write it with a highly restrived EULA and to call home to verify that it isn't being pirated. (It doesn't matter that it is designed to spread like a virsus.) Then you could sent the BSA a list of all the businesses that are illegally pirating your highly customized software and let the BSA get the money.
Prolonging HIV patients' lives by years, even decades doesn't count because it's not a cure.
Forget HIV research, we need more research into the diease that has a 100% death rate that effects the entire human population: DEATH. We havn't cured Death yet. At most, we live to be about 100 years old then we die. We should stop all research into other diseases until this own is solved.
Of course if we solved that problem, we'd have the global top 1% being immortal and the other 99% living life the usual way.
Personally, I think the most effective solution is to convince people that if they break such-and-such a law, they will get caught. Presently, most ways to back up that threat involve trampling on civil liberties.
What about a repeat offender tracking program that would require anyone that was convicted of misd. crimes three or more times to have an active RFID tag embedded and tracked down to the meter level by the government? Just incase that they are ever accused of a crime in the future, the government could easily know where the individual was at a certain date and time. It is for the crimial's own protection that we need to track the inside and outside of jail.
I don't like the idea of insurance as a check on anything. Of course I've always thought of insurance as a scam that everyone has to buy because of government laws rather or not they really want it.
Think car insurance. Were people required by law to own horse insurance or mule insurance when those were the methods of transporation? I don't think so. Now, every one is required by law, to own a min. of car insurance.
If you buy a house now, most people will have to get a mortgage. Almost every bank requires you to get insurance on that house.
Insurance companies are around to make a profit. I don't believe that they are a good check for anything.
How long until it is required by law that every citizen must be paying for health insurance, life insurance and lawyer insurance or be put in jail?
The friend could not be reached for comment Tuesday because his phone has been disconnected, and BellSouth has no new listing for him.
I wouldn't call the co-worker "a friend" if he gets me arrested. Sounds like he is hiding out now so no one can ask him why he over reacted and got some arrested.
some experts warn that China risks isolating itself if it creates standards that are incompatible with the rest of the world."
Since when have the Chineese ever cared about the rest of the world? Hmm. They were the first to go out explore the globe and say "there's little of value out there." That's been their policy for the last several thousand years. Why should they change now? China seems to have a better hold on its peasants now than at any other time in its history. How many peasant revolts, or merchant class revolutions have they had to put down lately?
[begin standard green rant] Yes, but the Sun is a non sustainable system. The Sun is losing energy! We must not waste the Sun's Energy. We will lose our source of Solar power in a few million years. We must develop a better solution. We need an energy source that will last billions of years and is completly sustainable and produces zero waste products. The sun just isn't a viable solution it will burn out in a few million years, then where will we be? [end standard green rant]
I would get a motorcycle, but in my mind, it's only better than a car on one count, it's size. It still uses gasoline, is dirty, noisy, and has too many moving parts. Plus they don't protect me from the weather.
You are complaining about the wrong things and to the wrong people. It is possible to build a quite motorcycle, but I'll let you in on dirty little secret. They wouldn't sell. Those that buy motorcycles like big, noisy, powerful machines. Motorcycles can go up to 180 mph easy and still get great mpg. Motorcycles will always be dangerous than regular cars though, because they have a smaller footprint. If someone could make a holographic projector for a motorcycle that made it appear the size of a semi, then motorcycles would be just as safe as a car. The problem is if an idiot in a car hits a motorcycle the person on the motorcycle will usually always end up very broken if not dead. Idiots in cars can crash into each other without too much problems as long as its not head on. There are so many safety features in todays cars that the idiots will survive and breed. Motorcycles aren't that noisy. Motorcycles just don't filter out all the noise around you so you hear alot more.
We don't have a site wide spam filter. I get maybe 1 account a month that starts getting spam. I then get assigned to go and unsubscribe from all the spam messages. This seems to work for legit spammers. Now, my free yahoo mail account always has about 300-400 messages in its bulk mail. I wouldn't say yahoo's spam is as friendly as others. Heck, yahoo will sign you up for more spam if you don't keep track of your settings. Our e-mail problem is more with spoofed e-mail addresses. Getting a user to emtionally accept that concept is difficult. They usually understand it, they just don't accept that it could happen to them.
Actually, that's about the only valid reason that I could see for the US Postal Service to get involved in E-mail Delivery. They would sent out there own postal inspectors because mail fraud, mailing porn, and mailing false ads. across state lines is usually illegal or atleast against Postal Regs.
I wouldn't want a Federal Agency monitoring all e-mail accounts and mail sent. I wouldn't mind one though keeping track of and verifing network administrators with valid US e-mail servers. Actually, it would just be a pain in the butt and wouldn't stop hackjacked computers.
Fair? It was supposed to be funny. It's like me doing something wrong and then all of my relatives and ten generations of descendants being punished. It has to be funny. It's like that whole Adam and Eve thing. 2 people do something wrong the rest of humanity is punished forever more. It has to be funny. Remember humor and laughter is one of the defense mechainisms humanity has developed to deal with horribly wrong things.
A funny take on this was taken by RTmark who once put a $10,000 (I think) reward for the first judge to sentence a corporation to death , on the basis that if a corporation has the same rights as a living breathing human, then it ought to face the same responsibilities and peril.
I believe the brits actuall can do this with 'wind up orders'.
Actually, I think it would be funnier if they just had to throw the company in jail. The whole company every employeee not just the board of directors. It would go right along with that government viewing everyone as a criminal. As an example, the government could say that one of the car companies was responsible for 10,000 deaths from shoddy work. All 15,000-20,000 employees in the car company would be arrested and held until after the 10,000 different trails where finished. They'd all be charged with neg. manslaughter.
Life would sure be different if we could be arrested if we were arressted/punished for our bosses crimes.
However after a year you will notice fading, and in two years it will be worse than LCD.
That is perfect from the manufactors viewpoint. They just have to give a 1 year warranty and sell them alittle less then LCDs. As long as they could sell them for 5%-10% less then LCDs, they'll sell. Heck I'd bet managment types would by this just because it's new.
I'd wait and see myself.

What the kind of cows to you eat? I hope that I'm not eating genetically modified cows that run off gasoline. (I'd have thought that would deserve it's own Slashdot article.)
I guess it's time to switch to home grown food... It'd be my luck that I'd pick that genetically modified golden rice.
Windows is a trademarked name for a limited and specific set of commercial software, developed through the work of thousands of engineers/programmers, at a costs way into the millions of dollars.
Googol is a word that some kid made up to describe a big number that existed a priori. Even if you could sell a googol of something(that'd be a whole hell of a lot), you can't sell a googol itself.
Actually, MS could license the word googol for their next OS release. They then could trademark the word googol for a a limited and specific set of commercial software, developed through the work of thousands of engineers/programmers, at a costs way into the millions of dollars.
