Oh, please. I went to RPI (a fairly tough tech school), and prereqs are just a sugfgestion. I've taken a number of clases out of order with no blowback.
The schools I attended (Texas A&M and the University of North Texas) wouldn't even let you register for a class if you didn't have the prerequisites. That's why they're called "prerequisites" after all. Your experience is the exception, not the rule.
I sure wish I could use Google Groups to post using an alternate email address. The interface forces me to use my primary gmail account. As far as I can tell, the only way around this is to create a second Google account, which forces me to log out of gmail...hassle.
You pay $1 for a can of coke? Sheesh. Here in the US we pay 35 cents to 65 cents with 60 cents being the norm for an individual 12 ounce can of coke out of a machine.
You don't live in a large city, do you?
Every successful role-playing game since Dungeons & Dragons has revolved around combat+experience+loot. If you're growing tired of this kind of gameplay, then you're probably due for a break from roleplaying in general.
Maybe every successful computer RPG fits this description, but it sure doesn't apply to tabletop or live-action roleplaying.
What capabilities is [Google Desktop Search] limited in?
It won't search network drives. It won't search Outlook.pst files on network drives. Thus, it's useless for me.
I use Outlook on Windows at work because I have no choice. Everything is on the LAN, nothing is on the C drive.
And, at home, where it would make sense to use this technology, I'm running Fedora Core 3.
Sure, they know where to install themselves. But do they put icons in the K-menu or make the appropriate file associations? Not always. I've installed a number of RPM packages on RedHat and Fedora, and also apt packages on Debian. On every system, there have been programs that I had to hunt and poke through the file system before I could use them. Installed fine, sure. Easy to find, no.
Opera will open all pages that were up when the browser crashed - not just the last page loaded. For example, I have ten pages (on ten tabs). Opera crashes. I restart it and all ten tabs load.
Sweet.
Notaries in the US aren't holders of document repositories, as they are in many European countries. They witness signatures, sure, but they sure don't keep original copies of everything they notarize for 25 years. They just stamp and sign the original document, which is retained by the client.

Um, I've got news for you, using the Catholic Church as an example of Christianity is perfectly appropriate. You can wish all you want, it doesn't change the fact that Catholics are Christians.
Hey, maybe you've got the right idea! We can use your logic in so many ways!:) How about this one:
Microsoft has done so many nasty things in the past (and still does some today) that I wish people would stop using them as examples of the computing industry.
They've been developing medical AI systems for years, and none of them do a whole lot yet. There's certainly a lot of promise, but replacing human beings (be they overpaid doctors or underpaid nurses) isn't going to happen any time soon.
What, you didn't get reduced tuition for working as a grad student? Either you missed out, or you simply weren't aware that someone had to pay for that benefit you received.
I've been running a Bitvise WinSSHD server for a while and it works just fine. Integrates with the Windows login also, which is a nice plus. Easy to install, configure, and use.
OK, let's try that again in language most people can understand.
If they were selling this at Best Buy, what would they call it? What would the happy smiling people in the commercials be doing with it?

Once you've seen all splashes, you may want to help the judges to pick the best splash by voting for your favorites.
I have to look at all of them before I can vote? Really?

And Kerry will keep us there. Your point?
atomintersoft also tries to set a lot of spy cookies - blech.

They're not an ISP -- they're the phone company.

Citi also provides disposable credit card numbers, as does American Express.
Dennis Kucinich isn't in the MPAA/RIAA's pockets.

There are much better comparisons available, including http://pvrcompare.com/ , a great site for people considering a PVR purchase.
