    Most programming languages are the same imperative/OO thing, and after 5 or 6 you just don't care any more. If the project allows, do choose the best one for the job, even if mixing, but don't get too held up on this. As a previous poster said, the main programming language is... English.

    Now switching platforms is another problem, and that can hurt a bit. Still, after a while the pain dulls.

    It's a shitty console port and all the graphics decisions are based on what the PS4/XB1 have inside.
    Of course it's going to run into the thousands of fps on a video card that costs as much as the whole console.

    They'd better work on making smartwatches useful for something first, and then fix the control scheme.

    Why would he pay extra for the Pro version just for that? He plays games, doesn't log on to an enteprise network or whatever other stuff the Pro version has extra.

    It should be supported 1 more year, at least for servers. Then it's time to make a decision.

    April 2014 was the time to make the decision. If you're not in the testing phase for systemd or an alternate distro at this point you're not doing your job.

    I'm not a sysadmin any more, i just run my own toy servers. There ain't much to evaluate for those.

    Funny, because one of the ways to make me upgrade is to make a 10 incher. The 6" fits too little text for my reading speed, a 10 would reduce the page turns a lot.

    ... with my 2013 kindle paperwhite (yes, i want a light, it's easier to read at night and it's not noticeable outdoors).
    How do they get people to upgrade their eink readers?

    Unless he's talking about a lcd+android kindle, in which case no thanks.

  21. I need a new phone in my family real soon now(tm) due to an older iPhone 4S dying.
    No one here wants a tablet in their pocket/purse, so we won't consider anything more than 4".
    It's nice to get the small format on non crippled hardware again.

    Tbh, this would be the first time i actually buy an Apple product on launch :)

  22. TBH I used Linux as my main OS for 8-10 years, then i got tired of waiting for the year of the Linux desktop and switched to OS X.
    With macports/homebrew, the command line is about as useful as on linux, while the GUI apps actually work.

    Assuming the server side biometric data doesn't ever get compromised, how the fuck are they going to detect on the - very hackable - client device that the photo or video is live and not downloaded off facebook or youtube?

    Seriously, who is the idiot who approved spending money on this patent? Any Amazon shareholder cares to sue him for wasting the company's money?
